Hire Fast & Fire Slow-The Mutual of America Way

High performing companies take time to hire the right person. They give them 90 to prove themselves. If they can't make it through probation, they get canned. Not at Mutual of America. Because of Nepotism and a culture of mediocrity, low performers are allowed to hang around forever. There is a running practice that if the employee can't perform, we won't fire them. We'll just move the deadwood into another position. This is sickening and crazy. You have 40% of employees who hardly do anywork. 40% who do an average amount. Then the 20% at the top do double the amount of work that the bottom 40% do. However, because they are a cousin or a brother of someone and they are liked, these bottom 40% can so no wrong. Resentment and jealously build. Mutual probably has over 100 more employees then they really need. These bottom feeders su-k the life blood out of the top performers. This all goes back to the failure of the CHRO who has failed to turn The Firm into a place of top performance. Until you start giving cognitive, personality, and skills tests during the process, until you hire recruiters who actually recruit, until you get rid of the deadwood Field EVPs and RVPs who don't know how to hire, you will get the same results which is chronic underformance. It's time to clean house in HR, Recruiting, and can the dead wood Field Ex VPs and RVPs. Send them packing as their ship has sailed a long time ago.

The company is run by a bunch of clowns and goons. Like Trump said in one of his speeches: "and you can tell them, to go F*ck themselves."
