Blocked promotions

Anyone else in mgmt seeing senior leaders blocking you from promoting staff? Im seriously about to walk away from this sh-t hole. Been holding out solely cause of my pay but this is beyond disgusting . Then we’re also dealing with them not letting us get exceeds ratings we earned or give those ratings to staff either. This place continues to go to sh-t

Everyone I report into and their bosses are all new. So new you find yourself explaining how things are done and explaining why things need to be done so we comply with policy. This means late nights and responding to all types of incomprehensible requests. Despite this, I got a meets. I wonder if all those incompetent above me got an Exceeds despite not know how to do the job we all know they are being highly compensated for. But the powers that be co to us to cut costs and get rid of truly knowledgeable staff only to be replaced by yes men .

@ab+1jh67yp7z - we have plenty of G positions so thats not the issue. I think problem is we are based at home and they’re trying to use that as an excuse to force hiring an outsider with no experience or knowledge based out of a growth location when the previous employees who held that position was based at home as well from same area. Theyre going to get a rude awakening cause im not choosing an outsider. Im picking who i want and they’ll make it happen or i walk and take that person and several others with me and that will set panic in cause nobody knows the role but us

Work harder and be more visible. Adopt a Boomer work ethic. Senior leaders will be impressed.

@a4+1jh67yp7z If you’re in a US location again consider yourself lucky. In my dept, everyone less than an I level was laid off and from what I can see in other groups it’s true there as well. They probably want to start to look for another job. There’s probably a reason they can’t be promoted esp if it’s because that level will be eliminated soon.

This would be a promotion to just a G level for supervisor. The person is more than qualified and already knows the process from being an admin. And getting India anything is not surprising smh. There is no reason we shouldn’t be able to promote within. I was initially told we could now its excuse after excuse and stalling for months. Instead this is a bs game just like getting reqs approved that arent in their sh---y “growth locations”

Back when I had staff we were only allowed to give maybe 1 exceeds throughout an entire dept of 50 if we were lucky. And usually that person got meets the following year because we rotated it. This has been going on for at least 10-15 years at least in my dept. Nothing new. If it’s new to you, you’re lucky. Back then we had to rank everyone, so in most cases a meets was almost the same thing as an exceeds. We just couldn’t officially give them an exceeds. If we did directors sent the review back even though they had no direct contact with us. This is an awful place that just tries to keep everyone down to save a buck.

I'm a director in tech and was told by my MD that there are no promotions into L or high grades. I'm not sure I believe him, but I was able to get 2 promos for my team of 21 at more junior levels in India (of course).
