Thread regarding Bank of New York Mellon Corp. layoffs

Caught in the middle

It’s hard to tell if I’d feel better staying or getting laid off. Shouldn’t be this torn about it, right? But here I am, stuck between the two and not sure which way I’d actually prefer to go.

Agree! This place takes up far too much head space for my liking.

What will happen will happen. Worrying about it won't change anything.

OP, yeah, you are still at a point where part of you deep down believes this is as bad as it gets. Logically you say to yourself, ‘I will work hard, make the best of it and it will be OK. The worst will be over’……. But———— its not going to be that way. This place is fundamentally transforming to a company where cheap and brief tenure are the mission. To hope otherwise, is a form of ‘Stockholm syndrome’. As for me, I am no longer torn. I want a new position or to be axed with ‘severance’ as it’s called now. I am sitting here looking at people in glass booths all on lap tops doing virtual meetings on ugly pastel colored floors and wonder ‘how did I allow myself to be here?’

And I think this says a lot about the state of BNY right now.
