Thread regarding Bank of New York Mellon Corp. layoffs

I can't remember a worse job market

I've been really struggling over the past six months of searching for a new job. It’s not just that there are so few opportunities, it’s also how much things have changed since the last time I interviewed. Apparently, it’s become acceptable to ghost candidates, with no follow-up after an interview. This has already happened to me twice, and I’m having a hard time wrapping my head around it.

Not only that, the number of fake job postings are alarmingly high.

Recruiters post false listings because the employer is either scoping for a talent pool and potential interest for the future or the position is already taken.

My only consolation to you is that eventually the pendulum will start swinging the other way. It has to.

This isn’t going to be a popular opinion, but now isn’t the time for career growth, pursuing dreams or making drastic career changes.

I would highly suggest going for a lateral move or even a downgrade in a function / role you have proven experience with. A lower paying job for the next 2-3 years that keeps you employed with pay is far better than allowing that Resume gap to grow larger and risk no pay for long period of time!
