I'm not sure if people understand that bank hire analyst form top schools. New grads are paid based on their potential. It doesn't matter that you have 15 years of experience. No, you don't get to get paid the same in terms of base/bonus.

Yes, most analysts are going to be not that useful, but some are legit good. That's what every company is looking for finding that top 20% of the cohort; then ushering the bottom 30% away or naturally let them drift away with poor pay/no merit/partial meet.

Bonuses are a large part of total compensation for financial services employees. All employees should get them so long as performance is up to par. Analysts who don't receive bonuses are now more incentivized to leave the firm thereby costing the company more in the long run

Analysts shouldnt be getting bonuses. Most just startee in august and have been terrible to work with so how does any of that equate to a bonus with sr admins arent even getting them

I was here for all of 24'. So yeah the bonus is low, I was here for half of 23' and got 5k that year too.

My organization is most likely doing forced ranking, which explains why I got partial meets in one category and exceeds in another

No offense but the $5k they’re getting for 4.5 months is not a lot in this part of finance. If that (or the ~$15k run rate they’d likely get if they were here for all of ‘24) sounds like a lot then you probably work in ops or some adjacent function where bonuses are practically non-existent. $5k is seriously not a lot at all for front office/risk-taking roles for kids right out of college. There are roles at other banks that pay kids $75k in bonuses their very first year out of school if they work in coverage. We are not that type of firm so the $5k for the first few months, while surprising to you for being high, is probably surprising to them for being low.

I would expect an ops analyst barely got any bonus, if at all. All comes down to the job you do.

@dc+ so analysts here 5 months got a 5K bonus? Add that to the endless list of travesties handed down from Robin and his cronies. I and many, many others have been here for decades and got BS reviews with “partially meets” and as a result got no merit increase and far less than 5K. Shameful. In what universe is this okay? No doubt I am on the chopping block but I will revel with glee when executive management completely destroys this company. Make no mistake, it will happen.

Clown show management must not understand that a partial meet is basically a permanent demerit and effectively a fail in eye of HR. If you are going to give not meet, why give exceed in another category.

Any type of not meet at any company means you should be looking for the next shop.

We paid analysts a $5k bonus which is obviously low for front office analysts, but they only started in September so it’s for just a few months of work. We would pay them a higher amount next year as they become more effective in their roles and have a full 12 months to get paid for. Even with that, it’s hard to compete for top graduate talent from competitors elsewhere on the street when you could get a $50k bonus as an analyst elsewhere.

From other posts it sounds like it might also depend on your salary. One person said they got a $12,000 bonus, but I only got a $2,000 bonus yet if you add the bonus to each of our salaries the total was pretty much the same for our grade. I think I’d prefer to get it mostly as salary anyway. Sounds lucky that you got a bonus. I thought partially meets triggered a layoff at least judging from others I knew that got it too.
