Thread regarding Bank of New York Mellon Corp. layoffs

4 day office rumours from March - is it true?

Hearing gossip that it will soon be announced that team members (not just managers) will have to do 4 days a week in the office. Anyone got any more insight into this - UK based.

If so, when will it be announced and take effect. Will it impact everyone in flex or just some people?

(I am a manager already doing 4 days, more interested for my reports who are still doing only 3)

Robin and his executives didn’t start this bank….. they are just the latest in many regimes to preside over it and milk it for all they can.

May be you could start your bank and employ us - as we also love to be BAH. Please ensure that your benefits packages are at zero-cost to the employee and 100% bonus. Oh I forgot the salary should be minimum six figures (in USD)

Please ..

Speculations abound—whether it's wishful thinking or people bracing themselves for a four-day office routine. Even if management announces and enforces this policy with a week's or two weeks' notice, there will undoubtedly be exceptions and adjustments to the tracking mechanisms.

Remember, they gave Directors and people managers ample lead time before implementing the four-day office schedule in January.

I could be wrong, but I don’t believe April 1 is when everybody has to be in four days a week… I think the announcements coming out the end of March but I just didn’t hear the date that will be effective but they can’t only give people a week or two notice…. well, these pieces of excr-ment can I guess…. but most likely they’ll give a month or two notice

No work from home exceptions if you have been working from home, this will be cancelled. WFH will be redundant as they scope is to have employees in office.

This is true, starting April 1 all employees are required to be in the office 4 days a week. Any work exceptions will be terminated as they will need to be in office.

Going to make the 4 day announcement end of March. . But not sure when it will become effective

What source do we have on this? I have heard staff in Manchester, UK office claim this also, but how does everyone know?

Will this also affect Agile Flex employees?

I too hate to commute with the turnpike tolls out-of-whack , transit and parking costs going up with disruptions, child care costs becoming unaffordable - all these are avoidable expenses. But at the same time it is not acceptable in meetings (which are beyond ridiculous with no ability to walk across or convene in a huddle ) you hear kids crying, a lot of static specifically overseas, TV noise in the background or the treadmill, toilet flushing it is repulsive

May be the resisting folks should form their own bank and operations and provide support to this bank and other banks as a service. @OP can become the CEO and then may be everyone can run the ops from their toilets or from their hammocks or from the beach.

Why do you want to work here as a slave when that option is very open ? There has to be some reason that this job is attractive

No way, I already am miserable coming in 3 times per week. Every morning I wake up I have a sick feeling in the pit of my stomach knowing I am wasting my time coming in just to look at a computer screen when I can do the same thing from my office at home, use my own bathroom, have some independence.
