Thread regarding Mutual of America Life layoffs

Rumors About More Layoffs

What's everybody's prediction when the next hammer will fall ? There seems to be a hiring freeze so why keep anyone in talent acquisition. They haven't acquired a lot of talent in a couple of years. Looks like a bunch of voluntary/forced retirements coming in March. Plan assets retention is on pace for $2B outflows. When will the next round of layoff occur ? The 5 year note remains stubbornly high at around 4.4%. Got to believe the General Account is still bleeding and underwater ?

Funny how so many are talking about how bad the management is and was.

The one's that are complaining so much in all likelihood are not in a management position or at most a low management position.

No clue how to read financials.

There are a lot of insurance companies that have had and have layoffs.

Not saying Greed and his buddy Festog weren't a-holes, but Mutual has been operating for decades with nepotism and incompetent people, and poor systems. Also with a joke of the HR department.

To be honest most of the emplyees are there because no way they can make it anywhere else. The good ones left a long time ago.

It's only a matter of time before influential clients and policyholders band together and sue. Then ALL the truth and dirty laundry will come out in discovery and the media. Buckle and Lawyer Up !

Many people still stay because they can’t find another job because their skills are outdated and mutual is their only choice. Hard to find a tech job when everything is cloud and AI and none of the developers there are even doing any of that.

The poster below beat me to it, but MOA hasn't been profitable since 2017. The board of directors has been breaching their fiduciary duty for at least 8 years by turning a blind eye to the shenanigans of the executive team that took over following Tom Moran. Some of those executives are gone, but many still remain. I hope one day we get to hold them all accountable via a class action lawsuit.

In past years, bonus was paid but the company hasn’t been profitable since 2017. Not an indication of the healthy of the company. There’s always been a disconnect.

???

If a bonus is planned, the company must be doing ok!

A lot of people have indicated how bad Mutual of America is doing as to the bottom line and premiums.

Seems to be a disconnect.

I work in Boca and I have heard rumors and through the grapevine several people in IT and other key areas are leaving after incentive comp is paid out

The real question is how many will leave once the bonus is paid?
