Thread regarding Bank of New York Mellon Corp. layoffs

WHY

so here’s my question to all my layoff BNY friends. can someone please tell me why you have managers that do not know how to run to the department and do not know what the apartment does or how to do. The job gets to keep their jobs and us little peons are the ones that get laid off, can someone please explain that to me because I can’t comprehend that.

Ive been working at BNY for less than two years and must say it is the worse managed company of the dozen I worked for in a 40 year career. Very few people are left that Ive got to know in the 2 yrs here. Just continual layoffs of people on the lower levels but some departments do 5 or 6 deep with MDs and then directors who have no reports. BNY needs to take out the MDs who dont do or know squat and keep the worker bees.

Word of advice never go work for BNY or leave if you can.

These should all be brought up at the next clown hall. Maybe Carol Weinberg’s innovative advice should be sought out on this? May’be Emily the lizard can send out an email with words of wisdom that make us go ‘oooooo!’ And ‘aaaaaaah!’

Better yet, why do you think that managers need to “Run to the Department?”

I’ve never seen any manager run anywhere, let alone to the department.

The head of my department doesn’t know her rear from a hole in the ground. So she’s now hired two directors that also don’t know their rear from a hole in the ground. The current directors direct reports, you guessed it. Know nothings. They think anything and everything can be automated. It’s their answer for everything even when it’s not relevant. But the things that SHOULD be automated (basically anything India does) they refuse to automate. Bunch of clowns.

Managers like to hire and promote people that are just like they are. So if a manager is an A-hole, then he/she looks to purge the non-A-holes. Over the years, these A-holes spread like cancer into positions of power. This is what has and will continue to happen.
