Not sure how many were let go last week but 7 might be right. I heard they're trying to frivolously term for cause too. Company tactics to avoid paying employees severance per company policy. What recourse does anyone have? Giant company against ordinary Joe at a time where slashing jobs without a consideration of your work ethic or loyalty is becoming a norm?

Ok “VP”. Many, many VP’s have been let go and teams obliterated in Oriskany in the past year. VP means nothing. There are hundreds of VP’s in the bank these days. Even if you’ve been promised that you are safe it means nothing. I was promised the same and still was RIF’d last year. These decisions are made way higher than your boss’ pay grade and higher than his boss’ pay grade. The ones actually making the decisions don’t care about you and have no clue of your value or what your job even entails.

dq+1jmgdvj4y - sounds like your nose is where it doesnt belong. Probably why you’re a bitter employee. Everything wrong with you is someone elses fault right? Because you got axed for obvious reasons it must mean thats everyone’s fate right. Go back to mommys basement and play your video games. Let the non problematic employees keep working

@dk+1jmgdvj4y Sounds like you’re living in a work bubble! Good for you! If not, you would know much more is at play than putting your head down and focusing on your work. Otherwise you would be sitting on a floor where 95% of the desks are empty like mine lol also, this site is to discuss layoffs regardless of location. Obviously we all don’t have a crystal ball to know exactly what’s going on from location to location, but we do have colleagues across the globe who all say the same thing that we talk to daily.

How about we all worry about ourselves instead of what is happening in locations that dont impact you? Just because you were let go doesn’t mean everyone else is going to be. And to the “Im bigger than a VP” comment, then you of all people should know this as well. If youre wven bigger than a VP. Title doesnt mean sh-t cause unless you are given detail directly from the horses mouth which they arent, you are going by hearsay. If you all focused in your work as much as what is happening else where, you wouldn’t be losing you jobs. mind your businesses for once

Listen whether they do or jot the reality is they don't care and as for the severance it always su-ked. I knew a person worked for the bank 38 years and they were given 6 Months with a clause of removal if she got a job to supp the pay. They could have offered early retirement and it would have benefitted that person more since they were at the retirement age. Anyone who lives in New York state knows no employer actually cares about our well being and BNY stated very clear NO opportunities for growth will be extended to oriskany. If you want that you will have to risk moving your life and then hoping they don't ditch you once you move

@cq you sure seem pretty confident that the bank needs you. Boy are you in for a rude awakening. Here’s a small piece of advice - the bank doesn’t care how hard you work or how great you are at your job. The bottom line is they need to cut costs and your VP salary I’m sure would be a nice chunk of change. Never get too comfortable.

@cq - Not trying to out myself here, but I'm higher than a VP from Oriskany and someone is lying to you
