Thread regarding Bank of New York Mellon Corp. layoffs

This place toughened me up

I joined a new firm last year and although I’m happy, it definitely has flaws in how certain teams work together or don’t work together. Having said that, though, after dealing with BNY’s broken processes and toxic leadership, this is really a non issue for me. While colleagues at my current place may complain about many things, those things are child’s play compared to BNY. The grass truly is greener.

Good grief. I’m not as old as the imbecile 42 but I’m old so I experienced these layoffs He’s constantly chirping about… The environment is way worse now than any time in my 30 year career working for these financial institutions.

Must be really sad to be retired and have no hobbies or relationships so you hang out on the website trolling people and kicking them while they’re down and nervous about providing for their family. What a loser.

Working at the Bank really does have a way of toughening one up. Far more for the boomers who endured the endless layoffs for 42 years+.

Still, there are about two years of GenX , some of whom do have some bit of a clue on how bad it can be to work in large layoffs. But all in all today’s layoffs are all but nonexistent in this post layoff era.

In the same exact boat. When someone at my new company points out something that frustrates them with another area or process, it is seriously nothing compared to what was normal behavior/routine at BNY. I moved to another bank so it isn’t like I am comparing a completely different industry and pointing out obvious differences. The new grass has been even greener than I could have hoped for. The toxic management at BNY is truly unbelievable.

OP, that’s great that you can use this as a source of strength and appreciation. Still, I bet you wish you could have spent your time elsewhere and not have experienced this.
