If you're manager is not an a-hole you are safe. In good conscience i could not lay off someone i had that graduated off a pip, however HR wanted to add that person to the next RIF and we had to fight it

I’ve looked everywhere for the updated severance policy and cannot find it. Can I ask what you used as a search term in Athena to find it?

Surviving the PIP does not mean you can receive severance. Per the new severance policy, if you are let go you are not eligible for severance if your prior rating is below meets. That’s how they are getting rid of all these people without severance after many years.

ea+1jrh9psm8 Yes I was only on it for a month… they didn’t mention anything about the rolling period. A month or two later moved to a different team due to shortage.

I just don’t know where I stand at this point.

In the same situation as the last person. How can one change departments with passed PIP if one should have no performance warnings last 12 months to move/apply internally? Anything I missed? Also if you are great at what you do and got basically sp-t in your face and after the move have to bust your behind for a new boss to earn reputation knowing how you were treated, it makes more sense to do it elsewhere.

@OP. I assume you passed the PIP and then switched departments? I am on PIP for a false “partially meets rating” I. The “Power our Culture” goal and the PIP has a warning I can be terminated with cause for 12 months. When I asked my manager said this 12 month warning as of 2025 is in all PIPs but she has lied before and likely is about this as well. I agree with a lot of other posts, they are on a mission to terminate long tenured employees with cause to avoid abiding by the separation plan. Toxic? Yes. Surprising? No way. Abhorrent? Indeed.

If you were placed on a PIP, you are likely on the list for next round regardless of the outcome. One poster mentioned should be fine if no continuing performance issues. The problem is in many cases performance issues are fabricated. I do not know for sure but I suspect the original poster had no performance issues to begin with. Another poster mentioned collect severance and go somewhere else. I agree but what BNY is attempting to do is not pay severance under the guise of poor performance when no such issue exists in many cases. Fight them. Hire an attorney. As a tip, if you know you are likely being let go and long tenured, file a complaint with hr that you are concerned about age discrimination and retaliation. Document the filing and any response. By doing that you are backing them into a corner. If they do let you go as they planned that has retaliation written all over it and is a smoking g-n for an attorney. More likely, with this strategy they will either simply keep you or pay full severance. Either of those are acceptable outcomes.

I would hope that you are OK for now, but at the same time assume that you are not.
There is no downside in getting your resume in order, applying, and hopefully getting a few interviews.
Worst case scenario - you waste a few hours, although interviews can be fun when you are not stressed and just exploring the market.
Best case - you are let go, collect and keep severance, and get a better job elsewhere.

If you achieved you should be fine as long as there are no continued performance issues

I would have thought you are safe for now if survived a PIP

Your conservation status is now EW - extinct in the wild. Next round should be the end.
