Certain teams in trading did good job, they deserve fat bonus.
But majority of trading people are just lucky this year is volatile, next year they are screwed when volatility going down. They do not deserve a large bonus.
Don't forget success of trading is built on banmkng, most of traders are overpaid and bankers are underpaid

We lower level employees get only around 5k. Uneven distribution has no impact.
Once our group included the SIL of a big shot. He of course had to get a massive bonus so he and FIL and our boss could continue to enjoy their expensive boy sports. I suppose so it wouldn't look too out of place, we all got extra-large bonuses too, maybe 4X usual! Just that one year.
Sounds like OP should go into trading.
Thank you for the information @2keo+1jskETuY
System opens for managers to begin inputting bonus numbers on Nov 3. Then, there will be several rounds of back and forth up to the day before you are notified at end of January.
HR usually provides guidance to each area - take it up or down by x% from last year.
We are given a total for our team and have to allocate across within that.
If an individual's number changes too much (either up or down), we are asked to justify it.
When do they put in the numbers for the bonuses and who gets what? Has that already been decided?
