@k1m Just stick to the Jersey city closing threads and do not spread you toilet bowl sniffing skillset in all the conversations.

Dude, they hide your 401K savings in your 401K and hide the match there as well.

It frightens me to think that you work at the Bank and don’t even understand the 401K!!!

For me , The ONLY TWO Categories of Employees at BNY

  1. With Connection, gangster whatever Old or Young, they will get promotion.
  2. No connection, waiting to dispose. My team has queue of PIP and was told next round is June.

No more severance package in 2025. It is rare case.

I am ‘experienced’ and fall into the age demographics. But you have got me and many like me all wrong.
I could care less about maximizing social security. I care about maximizing my 401K and I care about NOT TOUCHING IT until I am ready. You may find this impossible to believe, but, I actually like working and doing a fine job. I thrive on things that I create or help bring to life. I am not some loafy doafy person who is quiet quitting. Me and very many of us born before 1971 have this thing called PRIDE. We like doing well and frankly dont think everyday about getting paid in as much as we do being professionals. My problem with BNY and its ugly as--ult on good American workers is that, they dont care. They just want cheap. They just want to pay nothing in salary, benefits and employee support and training. I would have loved to work here till I am 63 , 65 etc… I could train, educate , share knowledge and still deliver big time projects. But again, this place does not care. My days are numbered and I know it. Sad thing is, BNY is losing me. I am not losing BNY. I will find something else and even if it’s less, I will do my best. I am not ready for the gluefactory. But I think this BNYGoldman will be after it ki-ls itself like this.

The Three Categories of Employees at BNY

  1. The Experienced (Near Retirement)
  • Typically in their late 50s to early 60s, waiting for a severance package as their send-off bonus.
  • Their primary goal is to maximize Social Security (SS) before exiting the workforce.
  • Despite immense experience, they face age discrimination if they seek new opportunities.
  • Many are quiet quitters, staying until retirement—but they hold invaluable knowledge of legacy systems, benefiting management teams who capitalize on their expertise.
  1. The Inexperienced (New Architects & Agile Bureaucracy)
  • Includes transplants, business analysts, scrum masters, RTEs, and agile coaches—often skilled in theory but lacking real system knowledge.
  • Strong on certifications, PowerBI reports, and flashy presentations, but weak on actual delivery.
  • Have built a bureaucratic nightmare, drowning the firm in Jira overload.
  • Young, eager, but clueless—more focused on their next career move than mastering existing systems.
  1. The In-Between (The Struggling Majority)
  • The largest group—mid-career professionals with obligations, who have invested years in the firm but lack the leverage of the experienced group.
  • Dependent on their paycheck but handicapped by outdated skills, limited tech exposure, and time constraints.
  • They risk being the most impacted if layoffs occur, yet many remain stagnant instead of exploring new opportunities.

What’s Next?

  • The inexperienced thrive because they align with management’s priorities, have minimal responsibility, and can easily move on to new roles.
  • The experienced are simply waiting for their severance, counting the days until they exit.
  • The In-Between group needs to wake up—without proactive career moves, they face the greatest risk when stability crumbles.

This is the worst I have felt while working for this company. I feel demoralized and defeated. I probably won’t be part of a lay off so I’ll need to find a new job and leave on my own. It really bothers me that I am being chased away but I don’t want to die at my desk like others have.

Beware. Your manager is a liar and a do-pe.
These layoffs have been going on like this for almost all RV’s tenure. Financial Financial instability? According to out annuals report you dont see that as an excuse. The only instability we have is our management. As for flex loss as a ploy to get people to leave, what about the dedidicated people who wanted to stay but got scalped and tomahawked by Robin and his people’s team?

@ae+1jt8zkmfb They sent out an e-mail announcing it yesterday. Everyone who's flex or agile flex will return to four days in office as of September 2nd.

After Dan G was announced to be departing the firm, it was a real wake up call that no one is safe. Who is the next higher-up to get cut? He could be any one of us. He could be in this very room. He could be you! He could be me!

At this point, being let go unless they scr3w you out of severance is a blessing. You won’t lose a large amount of the 401k match they withhold either. Curious where that money goes, it probably goes to a slush fund for RV & friends.

I work in Engineering and I recently spoke with my direct manager, and she said she personally hasn't heard of any layoffs in our team. Any major shake-ups are a direct result of the financial sector's instability. Also she thinks the announcement of RTO and elimination of Agile Flex is a deliberate ploy to get people to leave and only keep the dedicated employees.
