How is it I’m unable to work from home during the week taking remote calls from the office but Saturday nights I can be on a stupid resiliency call testing applications for six hours from home?

The same way Charlie went to WFC and works in NY when all their employees are in CA. CEOs are stoopid.
when you mentioned "resiliency testing on saturday night" my heart ached.
when you are there you think it su-ks.
once you get out you know it su-ks.
im so glad i got out of that dump.
Answer: This Bank is run by mo--ns!
Nope. Just like when they increased minimum hours from 37.5 per week to 40 without anybody’s agreement/ consent or compensation, the weekend work is also required for the job, . Otherwise your going to be let go with cause without severance… One of many reasons why I’m looking to get out of this he-l hole ASAP.
Surely working Saturdays requires the employee to agree. They can't force you, right. Even when you agree, you can request them to compensate for that day.
42- So you agree they are in breach of their contract having us work Saturday
I assume it's because your contract is Monday to Friday at whatever location you agreed? Because it's Saturday (hence outside of your contractual agreement), they allow you to WFH?
We used to do those from the office or a separate test site. Believe me I don’t agree with going in 4 days. My team has been allowed to WFH 2 days a week since 2017 or 2018 so this is absolute nonsense. But for your example: just be careful who you say that to. They might make you go in.
Engineering’s Reality: Beyond Nine-to-Five
Engineering teams operate outside traditional business hours, ensuring systems remain functional. The work includes:
- Late-night monitoring for batch processing.
- Weekend maintenance: patches, upgrades, resiliency tests.
- Statement preparation: keeping financial reports on schedule.
Previously, Agile Flex credited these efforts, but the new business-focused model assumes a rigid nine-to-five structure, which doesn’t fit engineering needs.
Engineers are expected to be in the office four days a week while still handling weekend work, despite being underpaid compared to architects, scrum masters, and agile coaches.
At the core, engineering remains the lower deck crew of this Titanic—keeping things afloat while leadership prioritizes client-facing roles over essential operations
I have heard of people swiping in on weekends to get extra days a month but heard they are cracking down if it's not a certain hour length on the network. Do not know if there is truth to it but our regional message to our employees is that we have to say minimum of 6hrs or no credit.
I know some people that come in to do the weekend work and earn the swipe for working the entire day. No rule saying you can't.
But I hear you. It's ok to do weekend work from home but not ok during the week. Double standard.
We used to do that in the office! They will probably make us come in to do that too.
