It’s frustrating when rankings feel predetermined instead of earned. No matter how well you perform, the results never seem fair. The system’s stacked, and hard work rarely gets recognized. At this point, it’s hard to even care anymore.

Ranking is based on the following unless you are a real super star:
Age (they call it tenure)
Threat to your own manager (they call it redundancy)
Question a lot of nonsense work you end up doing, in spite of what RV says (they call it not a good team player)
You don't want to help your manager to engineer metrics to make them look good (they call it inability)
Your manager doesn't want to talk to their manager to highlight your skills due to fear (I call it pathetic.. do you even want to work with this person?)
Good old they know someone else in the team more than you (I call it shoe licking)

Well not actually. The leadership issue surrounding that project was communicated verbally. She had issues with adding her comments/ratings in the system because she missed the management timeline to do so. When she finally got access she used a bank-wide policy required project I was leading which actually met the target I had set and exceeded the amount of work done by ALL other LOBS as my failure 🤪. When I questioned her about the switch she said the other was too contentious. UNBELIEVABLE. Funny that after a little more than a year ago when this occurred, I can now laugh about just how evil she was (is) … Her along with her manager (who has since been pushed out/RETIRED) had a plan starting roughly the prior mid year to get rid of me with no bonus - thus why they needed the review to show how terrible I was.

Wait, you were penalized for taking the lead on a project… Isn’t that some of the bullsh-t They’ve been spouting at us for the past three years?
“acting like an owner… “ That was part of the whole farce of giving us a couple shares of BNY stock while not giving us our 401(k) match until the following March… We were now “owners.”

It gets better. I was told I was replaced as lead because several colleagues had advised her to do so —- WOW really??? So I talked to each of them and they called bullsh-t - they hadn’t done so. So, I called her out on it and she was angry that I talked to them about this (liars don’t like their lies spread) and shouted that it was HER that didn’t want me to lead the project. No kidding. She didn’t want me to get any recognition for leadership. Actually rated me as PM for leadership. Total narcissist. Still working there. Likely found another victim to harass.

I got told to take on something in mid year then when I returned from vacation was told verbally another team taking on that responsibility. Then at end of year rated below expectations for not doing it. I was set up

I also was rated as PM - Total background was false behind the rating however I received the rating due to acting in a leader role where I had no right to do so. Wait, I was the lead??? Nope, I replaced you as lead. Without telling me or the team that you had done so?? Fair point but yes 🥺 Oh, and by the way, you’re gone because your knowledge threatens me. and I have this great opportunity to get rid of you - RIF Total sh-t-show.

My favorite is when you and your team plan ahead, put in your own personal time and render flawless great results that truly exceed what a normal effort would do only to be told: ‘well, you are expected to do that. So you are a meets’
People are totally uninspired and disenfranchised now. Good luck asking people to put in extra.

As a Supervisor, last year, my Manager told me to start thinking about who I was going to rank below or partial in August ! I needed 2 people in that category regardless of how the team was performing……why work hard when your fate is predetermined ?

I received negative feedback for things I had no part in handling and no system access to handle in projects. Was rated as not meeting expectations and below expectations for these same issues that I had no involvement in. They just wanted me gone due to age and tenure.
