Thread regarding Bank of New York Mellon Corp. layoffs

Layoffs may 19th

Looks like more people from new York state were axed again today. All for the reason it is the companies direction. So many intelligent and hard working individuals just told it was for restructuring. We'll time to spruce up my resume. Next job I am not going to put in my all if this is how corporate America appreciates their employees.

I got let go on the 19th. I was WFH/BAH. Even though my team was very small, apparently that didn't matter. If the aim is to get rid of all WFH employees, my team will end up with one single employee on it. We were already shorthanded and got speed complaints. But BNY only cares about profits - though they were going to lose profits when investors start pulling out because no work is getting done.

There’s no point suing for anything. The amount of time it would take to even go to court would be insane. The bank has their team of lawyers that know what they’re doing. A lawsuit would be a waste of time. Just take the severance and be done.

The ones impacted in NY are forced wfh. Its obvious what they are doing when out of the rest of the team, only wfh out of oriskany was let go. On top of it, wfh isnt allowed to promote, hire or be promoted. Literal discrimination right in our faces. Sue these ba----ds. They put employees in that situation and then terminated for it

@Unappreciated, did you disable the pop ups? I had to and then I was able to open all the docs.
Severance update -- ~$50k+, plus other benefits like job assistance, well being.

Its not “the companies direction” as they say when it is clear as day wfh on those teams were the only ones targeted. Wfh folks forced wfh by senior management. Turn their as--s in and dont let them get away with this . It is discrimination. Even ones not released yet are discriminated against and cant get promoted or anything cause of that bs

Yes, you get 2 weeks for each year of service. They won’t tell you the actual amount. They will just tell you how to calculate it (take your annual salary divide by 52 and multiply that by your weeks of severance). There is a healthcare stipend also - not sure how that is calculated but they do tell you the amount of that in the link they are sending. Other than that it will just show the number of weeks of pay.

Severance package for someone there just under 10 years was about 4 months. Oh and something about funds for medical. I will believe that when I see it. Then we were told we would get a 1 month training for displacement.

I was impacted in the last week of April. Spent 5 years at BNy. Excellent performance all along . The department is changing tracks is all I told by a new manager who also sc--wed up the communication .

I have not been able to get BNY totally out of my system yet. It is 90% out though and I feel a great relief. Still looking for a job but it is a lot better than when I had a job with BNY. Those impacted today - trust me - you may or may not do well financially in the short run. But will do very well emotionally and exceedingly well in the long run. This event is a set back for you and a very temporary one at that. I am in the same boat as you and all the best to us!

Can you imagine going to the doctor and having them tell you that you have a terminal illness and to expect an email tomorrow to explain how long you have to live? Our HR "leadership" is pitiful.

Anyone here let go from Westboro or Wilmington? I was let go 3 weeks ago. Sorry to those affected. They don't care for those who put in so many years of hard work to be replaced by a bunch of robot sounding CSR's in the Phillipines. If they only knew how many Shareholders called in requesting to speak to someone in the USA.

I was let go this morning. It's bitter sweet. Been there 20 years and hard to believe I wouldn't be back.

Said I'll get a severance package in the coming days. Part of me want3d to quit for years but part of me was scared of thr unknown. This will pass and we will find something better.

Stay strong

please post tomorrow with details of.the link and your years of service. I can't believe they don't even have the humanity to have that conversation with people, but dump it in a link. All the best for better horizons to all!

I’m a February cut. Just want to let all those let go today know that things will be ok. You will get through this. It was a blessing in disguise for me and I hope others find the same is true.

aj+1jvmj2rf0, You can go stick your di-k in the mud. Others are asking and those of us who have been through a layoff actually have feelings and genuine empathy. LOB, office of the CAO. I wasn't fully remote, but I was the only one in my region from my larger team.

@ad+1jvmj2rf0, received 4 weeks full payout and waiting on details for the severance package. Assuming I'll get the link tomorrow. And to the other poster from Everett, hugs.

I was literally just let go an hour ago. Been here 13 years, all 'met or exc. expectations'. I'm so sad because if the people I've connected with, but have to see this as an opportunity to branch out. I wish everyone else the best of luck.
