Is there any reason for working hard in a company that has proven countless times that it doesn't value hard work at all? I don't think there is, and I am amazed by those who still give their best so that those at the top could enjoy themselves.

My store leadership is a joke.
There is a tm who changes lids on prepared food made from the previous day to extend the shelf life.
Tm doesn't care about food safety.
By the way the tm does this right under a camera.
the ASTL in the del mar store talked his way up and literally no one likes or respects him. oh and he is too scared to confront thieves, and spends all day staring at food or hiding in his office. this company is a fking joke lol
Most ASTL's have always done that.
My favorite part about the new ASTL group is they exp15ect the workers to work hard while they do nothing.Leaving the office for 15 min doing a lap around the store is about as much as they do these days.
No sh-t about the quality of ASTLs we're getting. The new ones at my store are clueless and thoroughly callous. The most callous of the bunch, though, is always the one prattling on the loudest about the Culture Champion bullsh-t.
The people who are becoming astls now are people who would not have even been considered for atl jobs 10 years ago.
It’s hard to even try to show them respect when they act like spoiled kids who will throw a tantrum to get their own way.

I wrote the comment that you agreed with. The company is a shell of what it used to be and I do somewhat mourn the loss, but not that much any more as I give less f$&@s every day that passes. I couldn’t agree more with you on the a&$kissing ASTLs, they seem to be deeply inept and immature, also I find a lot of them have no clue as to what health and wellness means and they micromanage like nobody’s business. As you pointed out, WFM no longer offers a unique variety of organic foods that can’t be found elsewhere. The grocery market has diversified. I’m looking to leave soon because there isn’t much left for me there to sink my teeth into.
i agree with the post below about the changes in that 2013-2015...very sh&t show....a lot of bad decisions made during a shaky economy and our competition had all begun to sell organic options(the lil usda organic/good organics scheme was no longer working)....the health insurance really took a dump right after obamacare passed and they were going to have to insure more team members..our lil pwa cards have not been able to keep pace with the deductible increases since like 2008....and amazon lowered the yearly amount given to team members..i still work hard and do my job but i still contemplate leaving or making sure the new a$$kissing astl's know how i feel about certain bad decisions that roll down hill like turds from global or regional...
YOU are the only reason you need for working hard. Take advantage of the networking, Verb courses and anything in Cornerstone that will help you develop for whatever job follows this one. Slacking during your shifts makes you feel like a total POS and you will most definitely appear to be one to the coworkers that carry your weight.
I’ve worked for Whole Foods for 12+ years at the store level and this company has transformed into something that’s virtually unrecognizable to what it once was. Truth be told it took a turn for the worse in the 2013 to 2015 time period. From there it was a rocky road with many a$& backwards business decisions. I haven’t quiet quit, what I do is strategically adjust my work pace and output to what I can personally handle, just enough to get keep myself out of trouble and complete my work tasks.
All that hard work is going down the tubes...

Who cares what WFM or Amazon think about your hard work? We're all replaceable so work hard to meet your own standards. Use that work ethic and pride to move on to the next chapter where you will be appreciated. Your day will come.
