Nearing my 25th anniversary at Merrill and was blindsided and asked to leave with no explanation. Wouldn’t even let me clean out my desk. Model employee with excellent performance reviews for 24+ years. WTF? I’m 54 y/o female
They said it was happening nation wide but I can’t find evidence of that

Same happened to me, 21+ years veteran, disgraceful BofA, however I won my lawsuit.
Definitely talk to an employment attorney first and don’t sign that separation agreement yet. You can definitely negotiate a better package.
Yes WSJ did the article. Basically said they took his direct reports away from him and moved him down. Yet the directory indicates no such action taken….
Did BOA ever release a statement about that guy? I can't remember if it was in the US
Well considering an employee can basically mu---r another by working them to death, and not get fired, I’d say take this as a sign from God that he feels you’re too good for this sh@th@le place, wether you realize that or not. Sometimes in life we get lucky without realizing it just yet…
I am begging to get shown the door - but in a layoff with a package. (I visit this site for any whiff of possibility.... hoping...)
But not to be let go "for cause" and especially with no explanation. I am so sorry this happened to you.
Would've thought they'd at least have spoken with you about whatever they thought happened and maybe send you the 2 LOEs ("letter of education") over a 6 month notice period to give such a long-time employee time to remediate whatever brought this on.
We had a completely certifiable b*tch of a manager who often shouted at our team in hystrionic, expletive-laden tantrums (to the point of making people cry). A GHR Executive finally witnessed one of these episodes first hand at a major conference. Rather than being fired on the spot and shown the door, she was given a coach for 6 months and then promoted! And she was not even a Favorite.
How does that even make sense???
I’m sorry this happened. This is my greatest fear too. I’ve also got 25 years here and I am 52. I pray that I at least make it to 59 1/2 without getting shown the door.
Age discrimination. To receive severance you’ll have to sign a document saying that it’s not age discrimination to get your money. Sorry this happened to you. It’s very common.
Sorry to hear it. Hopefully you received a sizable severance package to help either ease you into retirement or find something new and better (where you are treated with a bit more respect).
I keep telling you mofos that this company doesn't give two rats azzes about you. They will continue to layoff the good talent and keep the azz kissers with no talent. This company is azz backwards and will continue to be that way.
@cm
100 agreed.....I was choosing to ignore and let it go.
They laid people off at EIT department in Bank of America on Tuesday due to not being near a core location. Some of the associates had no office near by because the BREA CA Office was closed two years ago.
@ap something is seriously wrong with you. Period.
There were 20 secretaries/ assistants let go across ML wealth management branch offices.
This is why i never keep anything personal at my desk or on the computer. Sorry for this. I was laid off once the day before Labor day. Did not make the holiday very nice.
What was your role at the company?
Ageism. Hope you saved for retirement. Your career as you know it is over.
Be sure to thank Jesus for making the happen for you when you hit your knees tonight. He’ll make this an “opportunity” for you to show how much you love him. So, as the suffering increases, sit in gratitude for the experience. Of course, if you don’t, he’ll light your soul on fire and burn you for eternity…because he loves you unconditionally.
Hope you enjoy your Memorial Day weekend.
I’m just here to say I’m so sorry.
