@7aa I'm so sorry this happened to you. I hope you get an even better WFH job and more money!

When did this happen?

@vc I have skin cancer and had been WFH with the medical accommodation prior to the pandemic. I was let go because I am unable to leave my home and carry all my protective equipment and medical machines that provide certain meds. I was let go and they are paying severance but when I called they said BOFA reserves the right to terminate ANY position so by technicality we were not laid off but the positions were eliminated. So far I have 17 teammates and coworkers (different states even) that are now without a job and we all so “coincidentally” happen to have medical accommodations.

@47x My position was terminated along with multiple of my peers that worked from home with medical accommodations with severe and life threatening conditions because they were unable to go in-office but in no way was their performance affected by said conditions.

@5b9 I agree and we should stop giving them attention.
Obviously no one has any real inside information on this.

Name the departments or you are full of cr-p. Good chance nobody got laid off over 4th of July week. Half the bank is on vacation.

End of June and crickets. Nobody is being let go and the bank has no interest in paying long term severance packages. They would rather make life miserable until you leave or push you into retirement.

@vc Lots of us. Bank isn’t even in my state. 10 years WFH. I’m looking forward to being able to go into at least a branch someday soon. It gets old not seeing people.

Could be a kernel of truth to it. Hearing the same from multiple sources. Big summertime layoffs are unusual for any company, though. A lot of teams are bare bones during summer with all the vacation time taken.

@194 I know three people in EIT who were with the bank for over 20 years that were laid off in May due to not being near a core location. Now they are bringing in outside contractors do their work. This is what is happening in EIT at the moment not sure about other departments.

That's just causing fear in people. I know someone whose been working from home for over 17 years now site in state

‘Tis true. If you’ve been working remotely & are within a certain distance of an office, then your time at home is coming to an end.

@11p I know people who were in the same position and were let go last month some of the employees had been with the bank for 20+ years. This was in the EIT department. They do not want people working from home. Why hire people to WFH during Covid only to let them go. This is so messed up.

@11p if your mentioning my comment a lot of us were FC employees and while out with high risk we were offered perm WFH roles. My teammates and I have been moved around several different times to areas that need help but we've always been told if 30 miles away you can continue to WFH. I don't have a site even in my state.

@z5 For those that were told that they could live outside the 30 hub ring were given bad information.

Legally I doubt you can do anything about it.

@zy Senior Leadership (Team)... If your team is spread out, managers or skips may travel to your location to act, if you do not have a manager or direct report of skip level on site. Heard this news through several BSMs.

18 months, 1 year, 6 months or 1 week

C'mon, why settle for less?

I'm fully remote and have been since 3/2020. I don't live near a site I know so many employees in different areas are in the same boat as I am with that

@hm If they don’t want to pay 18 months of severance to those of us long timers, the bank should offer a year or even 6 months.

@vc I know of several associates that work from home not due to medical accommodations.

When you say remote employee, who is remote? Other than those on medical accommodations? And they would have a law suit up their you know what if they try to get rid of those only. I mean cmon.

I know that tech teams are letting go of some contractors. Not so sure about employees.

@jv I was in a meeting and it is a fact! The question was asked about remote employees and they said Bank of America wants associates in the office. This is sad considering some of us worked in Brea and the office was closed.

I have a feeling that this post is FAKE because of a couple of some responses. I hate that some people like to stir the pot and make people get worried by posting FAKE news. If this 100% a TRUE post why didn't the person who started this thread indicate which LOB's impacted. No to mention a couple of responses to this thread indicated "June 32" ...ummmm there are only 30 days on June.

The level of dysfunction and misery is off the charts with this guy.

@dr

Ok, it may be unfair to package out ALL those at or near retirement. But the right thing to do - for all parties - is go out to those employees and give them an option to accept a package before chopping younger employees (unless there are serious performance or conduct issues). It's what a healthy, "great place to work" would do. Also sends a positive message to younger talent, just like promoting from within instead of bringing in useless management from outside because they kissed the MD's butt when they worked together at a previous firm.

@db+1jwf0qzgx - honey, me and most of my tenured 30+ years colleagues have been BEGGING for a layoff package. Not happening. We're "too expensive" to package out. (Most of us would get 18 months full pay and benefits, which is a lot of expense when the company is already under expense pressure.

Their strategy is simply to amp-up the miserableness factor to make us leave on our own and many are. While others, like me, are told we're needed due to strong work ethic and getting sh*t done plus knowledge/experience the new kids don't seem to have (yet).

As for AI replacing humans/jobs, did the Industrial Revolution in the 1800s replace all humans?

No.

The human jobs just morphed into new kinds of jobs. So while machinery replaced some tasks, AI will replace some tasks, but other needs will arise. So you'll have a job, just maybe a different type of job. or save a lot become independent so you don't need a job at all.
