Workload monitoring

Anyone else’s teams being asked to fill out tracking logs daily for all the activities and routines that they do? Also hearing that the next step is for a team to evaluate workload, learnings and look for ways to automate or reduce or increase capacity? Sounds like to me they’re going through more cuts seems every month at this point more and more cuts are happening.

Several teams across technology are being required to keep logs of all non-operational activities depending on what the scope of their workload is. This could range from meetings to appointments.

The reports that are coming out is based on finding toil, which is the current SLT buzzword they read about on LinkedIn. It started off with one specific area within the day to day, but now has expanded to speaking for everything you do that is not “traceable”.

All convenient considering the reports coming out about the end of the month.

We were asked to log the number of times we use the restroom. Apparently they are trying to cut down on water and sewage fees.

This happens pretty often. It resulted in an increased head count for my dept.

Yes. Last month we were asked to put together a list of things we do. And recommend what we can stop/start/continue to do. It’s currently being evaluated. It’s being used to see where capacity can be created, move work around, and determine if roles can be backfilled.
