I have tried repeatedly to put my name forward for layoff. Different managers, skip levels etc. How does this happen? Is there an HR contact? Long time employee and I want my package!

I am a people manager, I refused at year end to rate anyone below because I didn't have anyone i felt deserved it. I'm sure the powers above just picked someone from another team within my department. Yes they tell us to rate vs the other employees under us which in some instances there may be one below but if there isn't anyone not pulling their weight this is a complete farce. I can tell you that this is being forced on us. Even when we take a stand they are still getting their quotas somehow. Until we band together as a large group nothing is going to change. And I don't see enough people with a backbone willing to to this. Too many sheeple afraid of losing their jobs. Well most of us are probably going to lose them anyway so might as well fight for it instead of lay down.

There is literally no way for managers to take a stand. They can disagree as much as they want but the decisions are being made above them and in pushing back, the manager has just made their way to a PIP of their own (or worse). Senior management is calling the shots.

You all have zero clue what happens. When mgmt is forced to reduce head count and i say yes its often forced from above,. They have to start reviewing based on performance, attendance etc. who isnt an asset or who could you afford to lose. Often you can’t afford to let go of anyone and ar mgmt doesnt care. especially when you're already short staffed. However, some people make it very easy to select them based on history of nonsense and unreliability. So dont all sit here acting like innocent victims or blaming mgmt. your sr leaders are the issue but most of you are too

@d6 I think it's been hinted the list compiled by your manager(s) is reviewed.

Does the managers actually pick the people they want to let go or does the company?

@a1 💯 agree. This is the newest tool in Robin’s toolkit, and it is well known among the long tenured legacy Mellon and BoNY employees. And to the managers who silently and dutifully go along, shame on all of you. All that toxic kool-aide you freely gulp will eventually bubble up and surround you within Robin’s bubbling cesspool of cruelty and carnage. I wonder how you all sleep at night.
