Thread regarding Bank of New York Mellon Corp. layoffs

Ireland sites update

For those of you who work in Wexford did you get your severance package and were you satisfied with it? I'm also wondering what the long term future holds for BNY in Ireland? Most people seem to think Cork will close soon and despite the new office in Dublin it's not a growth centre, is there a risk they will pull out of Ireland completely

@7gw I somehow doubt that. But I sincerely hope you are right.

@7eg would hope so. Bit unfair if those not working consistently were given the same as the rest of us.

Those dates are wide of the mark. Cork going nowhere. Yes office will change as being transitioned over to Westfield quarter in ballincollig mid 2026

Those getting below expectations at mid year, does this affect possible redundancy pay out?

Has anyone heard anything further about the Cork office closing? Seems to be all rumours at this point.

Redundancies occurred in Dublin 6th June. Just before office move.

To be clear, the Cork location is going also. No doubt stalling the announcement until the dust settles on Wexford

Isn't Ireland their largest footprint in the EU? Or is Poland bigger at this point? I can't see them entirely walking away from Ireland.

Can't see them pulling out of Ireland, it remains significant CLE on the network. Some work such as TA AML they have restrictions, where no more than 50% of the work can be done outside Ireland. However, I do see many roles being moved to Manchester, Wroclaw etc, which are cheaper locations over time where the role does not need to be performed in Ireland.

Ex-Wexford here, got the usual package of 2 weeks statutory and 4 weeks ex-gratia. Overall its not a bad package. The company doesn't have to pay it and other countries dont get such a good deal so I was happy enough. Didn't get any extras (continued health insurance or pension etc) that some people claim to get but I am OK with that.
They may well close Cork at some point but I can't see them pulling out of Ireland. But who knows with that lot.
