Thread regarding Bank of New York Mellon Corp. layoffs

Forget about ratings and evaluations

In the vast majority of cases, they’ve been arbitrary, serving more as a scripted performance than a real measure of value. They exist to create the appearance of fairness, but in reality, they're used to justify decisions when it’s time for cuts. It’s infinitely more likely than not that they say nothing real about your performance, skills, or competence.

In reviewing this truly miserable thread, it seems HR is now joining forces to complete mass down voting of respondents based on their own evolving policies and practices of forced ratings in performance evaluations.

Apparently, there are now growing large numbers rejecting their unhealthy serving of sh * t sandwich. This may be evident in recent Peakon survey findings.

SO the message to all those bloated slackers being placed on the "25% displacement target diet" is this:

"Here everyone, take another bite .... you're gonna like it.... A LOT!"

The more I work for this organization, the more I realize that a lot of people are underqualified. They bullsh-t their way to a position and have no sense of collegial work. I ask for assistance, and they either say to me, "You should know!" or "Wait for me a few minutes," and never answer back, or just are rude. Sometimes people need to realize that people don't know everything all the time.

It is embarrassingly sad how many of you clearly don’t know what “/s” means. This was a rough thread to read.

Manager here again…forgot to mention that contractors are exempt from being rated.

Of course, another unspoken rule is that the India team is not to be RIFd.

You can see where this is going.

As a manager who recently attended the performance management guidance, they are being super careful not to put anything in writing.

They had reps from HR (people team), Legal, and employee relations on the call.

All managers were muted.
All questions from management in the Q&A were only shown to the six panelists, other participants/managers were not able to see each other’s questions.

The panelists made it obvious that they were not actually addressing any questions from managers, instead they said the only questions they received were around timing and where to find materials. They never addressed my questions.

Just know that many managers are fed up and are starting to log information to use against the company should a lawsuit arise.

If you don’t realize how horrible U.S.education has become, even as it simultaneously costs more than every other developed country, then I honestly can’t help you. You should take time to learn about the failure of U.S.education.

You could also improve your understanding by rereading it a few times.

@dy while I agree with you, mostly it is infinitely better to simply deprive this dude of oxygen. Make said dude irrelevant into oblivion. Starve the beast.

Just my two cents

@dy I'm beginning to think 42 or whoever it is who posts this nonsense is actually an HR flunky stooge whose sole purpose is to monitor this site and create nonsense and detract / distract from the real truths that shared from posters to this site.

Let's face it, more actual truths are surfaced by this site's posters than from "My Sores" intranet posts or monthly "Clown Halls."

One of the reasons why this raw, angry banter runs rampant is because of the toxic fear and uncertainty that come from familiar talking heads blindly ignoring associate concerns and continuing to spout self-congratulations while ladling Reverend Jim Jones' flavored, Dermie stirred Kool-Aid mix.

The arrogance and insensitivity are just as impressive as the Kool-Aid Man and Dermie's unusually large, hydrocephalic heads.

You are a joke. A low IQ one at that.
India’s iq scores are lower than the US and it’s universities are churning out mimics and copycats. The only thing they are is cheaper and subservient. Everything they do was developed and innovated here or in Europe. Just a low cost, 3rd world nation of aping mimicry. Sorry, but your attempt at racial superiority is now wiped with toilet paper.

@be+1jy2bmmeg Must be why the US teams that are left have to oversee what the offshore teams are doing! God forbid offshore managers might actually be able to help their staff with questions instead of just being there to babysit.

Your ratings are true reflections of your worth to this organization and to humanity. Management is in a unique position to judge and reveal all your shortcomings to you. You should be grateful for their input, and carry on with your life knowing what you know now about yourself and your ability to perform or not on the organizational stage. Trust management, they know exactly what they are doing, and they do it very well. /s

Your offshore resources work harder, are far more educated and better employees.

America spends more money on education than any other nation and yet a IEEE’s the lowest scores in the world for education.

I hadn’t been in the office for quite some time and went in today and I forgot what an absolute toxic environment it is.

It’s like a morgue…. people walking to the electric chair

Of course its not about your real performance.
Because 99% of everyone are doing the job.
What it’s about is:

  • Your salary and benefits
  • Your location
  • Your seniority
  • And if you manager dislikes you or sees you as a threat to them

Just think, if we really have 25% of people deemed incompetent, what does that say about HR and hiring practices? And our management? And our competency trainings ?
Face it folks, its a marriage gone bad now. They are cheating on us with cheap, unstable offshore. It’s a game of who dumps who first.
