Thread regarding Bank of New York Mellon Corp. layoffs

Has anyone actually spoken with attorneys or EEOC in their state

Just curious if anyone has actually looked into seeing if bny is violating laws or creating discrimination with the layoffs and forced ratings

@g7, ranking, by definition, is forced. It's forced RATINGS that are crazy and unproductive.

the corps make the laws and not the peasants like us who work at BNY or any other place.

How are these young (I assume) hires so utterly unprepared for adulthood and work?

There is no tenure in banking. Only Acadamia offers tenure.

People are really just so clueless.

I did it via attorney vs EEOC based on protected class discrimination. The forced ranking part is slimy but not illegal. If case fully litigated by mediator/ arbitrator that forced ranking would be an aggravating factor in your favor but not illegal. To successfully pursue if you are long tenured, need to base on protected class ie- age, race, medical, etc. I successfully did this and they paid me for a year settling quickly. Their attorneys over their head right now and outsourcing to Reed Smith. I can’t say I hate the company overall given the great experience I built there. The issue is the current management. That will likely not change anytime soon. If you are long tenured and cut for no reason like I was I would encourage you to do why I did and push back with attorney. Wasn’t hard. If you are a job seeker I would recommend avoiding for now.

There is nothing illegal about what they’re doing.

I don’t think anyone really has the back bone to do it. There has to be some sort of laws being broken here especially when it comes to customer data being shipped off to the scam centers in India to be harvested and sold to their brothers and sisters operating the call centers next door
