BNY PTSD

Many BNY employees especially in nys have been left scrambling. Many are unsure of why they worked so hard for people who truly only cared for what lined their pockets and not the actual customer, client or even their employees. Now looking for a way to continue your career, change your career, doubting yourself...please remember you are not the fault THEY ARE AND THEY ALWAYS WILL BE THE FAULT¡!! You were used as pawns for them but each of you are amazing and powerful people. Remember er to push forward.and keep doing your best to get better and make them all.see it was their loss! I worked with many of you that were let go and so was I but I refuse to drown in the mud unseen just to make their inflated egos grow. Remember the true families of you workplace and know not all of us were heartless. Love you all and always aim high!

I agree. I left a few months ago and I still checked this board occasionally just because of the idiocy that went on at that place and that I put up with until I realized I didn’t deserve that sh-t and every place isn’t like that.

I feel like there should be a class action suit for PTSD trauma. It’s been 8 years, I still have nightmares, and have had a lot of therapy to work through what I have been dealing with when it comes to this company.

New York is home to the back stabbers. A bunch of narcissists frightened of anyone who may have a differing opinion. All out to get ahead regardless the cost to other staff.

The PTSD / trauma is very real. I loved my managers in my more recent years, but stakwholders were absolutely awful. I had a major loss in my personal life that put it all into perspective. It wasn't worth the hours, stress and all that comes with it. I was so incredibly fortunate to be able to quit. I probably would have been let go otherwise.

I tried so hard to "climb the ladder" but was simply met with road block after road block and excuse after excuse. After the death of my #1 person, i realized i just couldn't do it anymore.

@ak I was the same way but you have to get out of that mindset. There are plenty of other jobs out there that are rewarding and that will actually appreciate your hard work. Keep your head high and life goes on after BNY.

The PIPs are just a way for them to have paperwork to cover themselves. I know a manager who was told to put an employee on a PIP, and the HR person actually said "When the 30 days is up and they've failed the PIP we can terminate them."

Not even a chance of getting through it successfully as far as HR is concerned.

The manager in question actually passed the employee and generated paperwork to prove it. That was not appreciated by the higher-ups.

PIPs have nothing to do with your performance. They just want people gone, and the PIP is the short straw.

@ak I was on a PIP as well, never ever been on anything remotely like a PIP in > 30 years working at 4 companies. I believe my manager rotate who gets the PIP in order to keep his 4 direct reports without losing anyone. Every review period someone else gets the PIP.

This is the result of maintaining that bell curve. What nonsense, a bell curve with 4 people after 3 were already trimmed.

Just waiting to get news that I am cut, get my token severance and get another job.

Absolutely agree. You are just a pawn unfortunately. No matter how good you do its not recognized. They really have sc--wed central NY employees. The building sits empty and owned by bny since the 80s, forced wfh but little by little being let go under the radar to not draw attention. Why ? Because they don’t want wfh. Yet are forcing people to be wfh. Multiple other locations the same. You cant hire and have them report to you, you cant get promoted or promote staff who earned it. You arent even included in anything including employee appreciation day. It’s absolutely disgusting

Totally right BNY PTSD and trauma is REAL. You are not alone and even after leaving here, many still have bad dreams and health issues.
This place is purely terrible, run by sociopaths and needs to be taken over by a legit set of moral human beings. You can’t win here.

Thank you for your post. I was on a PIP (first EVER in my 17 years at this company - always met or exceeded expectations). Had 3 months to "improve" but was laid off June 2024. I feel like such a loser maybe that's why I have not yet found a job. No matter how hard I worked and tried, it was just not good enough. I need to get out of this mindset. Never felt like this before.

@OP yes BNY PTSD is real. I wasn’t sure if I was the only that experienced it. But this site showed me I wasn’t. You aren’t crazy and you aren’t the problem. This company just makes you feel that way.
