Slow death by restructuring

The so-called ongoing “restructuring” is just a fancy way to cut headcount. There’s no real plan or vision behind it. Teams get shredded, some just quietly disappear, while others are left to scramble with impossible workloads. Efficiency? Morale? Forget about it. It never gets better, only emptier. What’s the point if the only outcome is burning out those who remain?

Folks, technically I should not be on this site but I am because I left in May this year and a number of perks (RSUs) are still with BNY.

I spent the last 8-9 months doing a great job, getting the team to out perform and even getting very good reviews and an elevation in the process.

And then, bo-m! One fine morning told that I need to transition out under a new restructuring plan. There was no such plan whatsoever..

So, should everyone be afraid? Yes. Be ready to open your parachute when pushed from the top of the bldg. Are you ready?

@cg You got that right. It's just about the only thing coworkers talk about anymore. Everyone's day is coming.

It is serious torture working here! Everyone walks around everyday thinking it could be their last.

@OP yeah and under no circumstances am I staying past quitting time anymore if we are to be in the office 4 days a week. This company doesn’t pay half as good for me to miss time with my family. I’m already looking into getting my teaching certificate, they make more than any in my department at this point.

100% true. Serious work is now impossible here. Morale is destroyed. Any sense of autonomy and a ‘can do attitude’ by your own ingenuity is shunned. Frankly, this is what communism and an overbearing controlling police state looks like. I am only here now to collect a check while I look for a better place. I could care less about Robin and this company’s goals. It’s already a failure and I detest being part of it, but I have bills right now.
