Thread regarding Bank of New York Mellon Corp. layoffs

We are second-class citizens, folks.

We need to come to the office four days a week starting in September, but for people in India, it won't start until next January

@vd if people worked from home pre-covid then it should be allowed now. The issue is a power struggle and if JP Morgan has nobody home, robin can’t think for himself and forces bny to be same. They have office wh--es they need excuses to see so the rest of us suffer

@qg+1k1gma048 Pre Covid I was able to WFH 2 days a week. You mean I’ll be able to do that again?!!!

@qt+1k1gma048 Depends on your definition of outwork. If by outwork you just mean working long hours because after so many years they still don’t understand the task and are just running in circles then you would be correct.

Well the India workers outwork you at a fraction of your cost and are more focused on their jobs than Americans.

Nothing will change until you do. Coming in and griping all day on this board is only hurting you.

@em @em its going to be 5 days again. They always said it would go back to how it was pre -covid. They dont care that other companies have gone more remote. They follow other banks instead of thinking for themselves . And they made it clear that if employees dont like it they can leave

Closest office is 5 hours away. They closed our officd and forced us to WFH so its impossible to commute.

@em

You are right. All these folks who complain and flex their muscles - non-existent one would add - here can do nothing (in caps). Just let off steam. Come September they will line up and promptly be there 4 days sipping their Starbucks Latte and toiling away. Some may come up with some scheme to circumvent the rules. And they will be caught one-day and unceremoniously sent out.

The house always wins. No one can file any lawsuit against a big firm like this. The judiciary grind will cost them time and money. For this big an organization the expense is nothing.

We are modern day slaves. We have bills to pay. We do not have sugar- .. or inheritance to take care of us. We need to take care of our families. In the end, we all will fold.

And the HR, the firm management banks on that.

Even if they say 7 days a week, 50 hrs a week and as long as they do not break any laws they can and will demand. And guess what, 90 % will comply. The bank will find new employees and keep the bank running.

Despite all the affirmative and politically correct employees the Governments have not stopped functioning. We know how to live with DMV similarly we will accept and live with what BNY HR throws at us - until we leave or kicked out.

By the way these laws protect mostly the NON EXEMPT employees and a significant portion of BNYM are classified as EXEMPT

Seriously, why do you even come here? What do you honestly expect here? One could say the same thing about you and your complaining.

So freaking what? So is everybody else we are no different. Go to JP, go to Goldman. It's not going to be any better there. So quit complaining and just deal with it. There is nothing that you can do about it unless you go to JP or Goldman and put up with it there. Everyday is the same thing. You people sound like broken records. Keep complaining and it's going to be 5 days and then what will you do?

@b9 i agree. It should be on all types of business so jobs are kept here wherr they should be . India had 100%. Tariffs on us yet our U.S companies are giving our jobs to them and saying F U American citizens. It’s disgusting

Yes, but only because there's currently not sufficient space. So Facilities is working on this to accommodate everyone. That's why RTO was postponed. Originally scheduled for September.
