Thread regarding Bank of America layoffs

What happened to take your child to work today?

This company pretends to be family friendly, but my building won’t let me bring my child in if he’s unable to go to daycare and we don’t have a bring your kid to work day. We don’t have a happy family work life balance it doesn’t exist here Bank of America that’s a lie.

Wow, typical of BofA employees — everyone missed the point of my comment. Nearly all companies in America practice bring your child to work day. That’s it. BofA doesn’t do that. It’s weird.

You can put a child in the visitor system.. but that is maybe if you have to swing by the office on your day off or something. It’s not normal to bring your kid into work unless you own the business… even then it’s still kind of distracting.

But for the people suggesting that parents use that emergency daycare thing.. that’s not a reasonable solution. Nobody wants to drop their kid off to a random daycare, daycares don’t seem to understand what the program is when I have called around years ago, and it’s so much work dealing with that and getting your kids set up. The company has found so many loopholes to make it appear as if they have such great benefits but when you actually try to utilize them, it’s a pain in the behind.. or they say you’re not even eligible.

Nobody wants your kid being in the office.

NO ONE.

No matter how much they tell you that your kid is cute when you show them family pix, no matter how many times they might inquire about how your kid is doing, when it comes down to it, NO ONE wants your kid running around the office. Doesn't matter if you supervise the kid, accompany them to the bathroom or kitchen, or even if your kid spends most of the day quietly coloring in a corner or zombied-out on their device.

Kids in the office are annoying and distracting, and no one except yourself thinks your kid is cute or wants to be around them. Take a sick day and stay home with them or find someone to take care of them outside of the office.

If your child is an adult, they can be checked-in into the building as a business partner or visitor, it is about employer liability. If the individual is underage, they have to be monitored at all times at a work place, the employer is responsible for the child’s accidents or injuries on the premises. If you are monitoring your child at all times, how then do you even perform at work? If WFH and you’re on a call, that’s different.

There are Brightstar reimbursement on emergency daycare, you can file a claim for last minute day care needs if necessary.
