Thread regarding Bank of New York Mellon Corp. layoffs

HR is nothing but a joke

You’d think HR was here to help employees, but it feels more like their real job is keeping the board and execs happy. That's it. That's their only role. When push comes to shove, they don’t protect workers. They just deliver the message and do what it takes to keep the engine running uninterrupted.

I have been in banking for over 30 years (different banks) and there is on truism about HR: “they don’t want to know you except if you have a harrassment charge to make.” Otherwise, it’s all kiosk and links.

HR works for the companies. They are here to cover them and ensure you cant sue them. They are not here for employees. Your local/govt employment opportunity agencies are here for the employees.

The next 30 days will be interesting to see all the casualties from RV's Battle Royale. Expect there will be little or no HR or management communications and zero publicity about impacts and displacement goal progress.

You can count on more outstanding, hardworking, experienced colleagues being bagged and tagged and given the dreaded 'vvv' label in Outlook and MySores.

HR serves leadership and carries out polices that mitigate risk and protect profits. Your past years of service commitment to pillars and principles, building loyalty, goodwill and obsessing over client business will be whacked instantly just as you will no longer be welcomed on the network or entitled to a final exalted free cup of coffee!

Cheers mates!

@OP It's the company's HR. It is there to protect the company from you and me. They help you as long as what you want and what they want is aligned. The moment you're not aligned and they have to choose then they will choose aligning with the company.
