I’m the third person on my team to get booted shortly after turning 50 within the past year. Nothing like being pushed out right when you're supposed to be at your peak.

Still crying for you everyday boomer
@OP its most definitely real. Same thing happened to me. BNY doing this to all long term bank of new york and mellon legacy employees. If you are someone’s friend and ex Goldman are probably sitting well. Others, not so much. If you were let go without a reasonable severance don’t stand for it. Take legal action. Over 50 clearly protected class as are race, gender, etc. I successfully did this. As you pointed out ageism is real - courts agree
@hx I experienced the same in Jan ‘24 after 35 years. My manager had it out so me. She is a narcissistic. I hope you received severance. Take care of yourself.
I was booted at 60 in February after 35 years of continuous loyal service.
Everyone on my team is old. Of course people fired are going to be old.
At first in my dept they basically went after the 22 - 30 something year olds. They got rid of all the entry level positions and sent to India. Then a few years later got rid of the 28-35 year olds/ supervisor positions and sent to India. Following year they started getting rid of the duplicate senior VP positions. Seems they are coming for all of us but yeah safe bet is no one in the US will be able to retire here. I haven’t seen anyone actually hit retirement age in over 10 years. I don’t understand all these intern positions Robin keeps bragging about. I haven’t seen any real interns in 10 to 15 or so years.
They came for the 65 year olds, then the 60 year olds, then 55 now the 50 year olds. Next the 45’s then 40… soon it wont be ageism …
Just Hinduism.
Ageism is the new racism.
