Great news! It’s about time that the Bank has objective tools to track productivity. I hope that we finally begin to separate the wheat from the chaff. Maybe next we can weed out the political class who network all day with no deliverables. Particularly in I.T.

Total layoff is 10%. ~ 4,500 people total. On technology side, it's limited to partial mets and people that don't show as implementing code on the OCIO portal. For those that don't know, OCIO dashboard has every employee listed and the amount of time spent on each application; teams, excel, outlook, internet(it even has list of all sites visited) . It tracks based upon the active window and excludes when screen-saver.
It also links to turnovers done in Git and/or Endevor/SCCB for mainframe. If you're listed as a programmer and have zero or low code turnovers, you're available to be let go.
Ahhh, a true scholar who understands English grammar. You are light years ahead of your coworkers.
So the consensus seems to be that the layoffs will take place between the 17th and 20th, which SUCKS - If I have to anxiously/hopefully wait through 4 days until the 20th and for some reason I'm not let go, that will be a HUGE disappointment! Way to start off the weekend of the 21st on a sour note!
asked not to return to office until 23rd due to "covid outbreak" after returning from holiday break
Good lord people. “Building maintenance doesn’t mean layoff. Get a life . Now if HR schedules a “catch-up” meeting then worry.
This is really good advice. I lost about $150 of Apple portable electronics in Pittsburgh over the work remote COVID year. I worked my tail off trying to get any of it back and couldn’t. Eventually I just took the loss and moved on. Anyone see a Site Manager with Apple Earbuds?
Hmmmm- our department didn’t receive an email. Maybe we are safe (darn).
Was in an email that I received.
Where did you hear this from? If not a specific name- a fellow employee? A trusted source? We haven’t heard anything yet.
To be more specific about the “building maintenance”, it applies to the Grant Street office in Pitt.
There is definitely layoff next week. I was advice last year to be prepared as they are downsizing the group to 2 or 3 people. It ruined my holidays, right but thankful I already prepared my resume and applying for new job. I packed all my things last week. 3 years ago, my manager was also layoff after MLK holiday. Good luck to us.
Word to the wise - if you think you are even at a minimal risk of being terminated next week, I highly advise you to get to the office this week and take home items you value. Otherwise, you may not ever see them again - and I speak from experience. I was hustled out by HR and was told to only take what I really needed and that the rest would be packed and sent to me. Yeah, right - I got only about half of my personal items, and much of it was poorly packed and smashed or broken. The rest was stolen. And it took several weeks of bugging the HR rep every day to finally get my belongings sent.
I’m in picksburg & hadn’t heard about bldg maintence. I’m in 1 mellon
All you guys crack me up with your layoff talk. There's nothing to worry about. I plan on working as my bu-t off today till 3 pm when my manager asked to meet with me in a conference room. He did tell me to bring all my personal items, so I'm not sure what that's about.
Pittsburgh people have been told there is “building maintenance” next Tuesday so stay home but be sure to make up your in office day!
If you’re right that’s only 3%, relatively mild historically. Bad news for all of us dreamers…
All this layoff talk is bullsh-t. People should be warned. It shouldn’t be secretive! Good luck everyone!
If you get an email from Farewell, Notify on a Friday, treat that as your signal you will be laid off on Monday or Tuesday if Monday is a holiday.
That is exactly what happened a few years ago.
1600 in the next 2 weeks
I recently accepted an offer and am starting 1/23....any talks of rescinding offers?
How big is your team currently. Is 3 like what 10% or so?
Hiding the layoff.
Spoken like a true manager 🙄
I've told you multiple times. Layoffs are starting 1/17. I have 3 people to let go and have been on the HR Manager calls.
@bkr+1kBOI8Vv - They didn't say who is getting the let go they just said that NO ONE is to report to the office Tuesday. Obviously, so they can handle everything via Teams.
What operations groups got the email?
You can really tell how long it’s been. When Charlie was here they were massive, fast, overwhelming and efficient. Hopefully it’s just small and limited.
My entire team hasn’t received ours yet 😅
What performance review did you guys get? Did anybody get exceeds expectations and still getting the layoff?
No, it won’t effect software engineers at all. But it may affect them.
Shiiiiit. Hmm I’m in an ops group in Oriskany, wonder if we’ll get one.
@amz+1kBOI8Vv - Our group has people in Pittsburgh, NYC, Delaware, and Oriskany. We all got the notice.
@jjp+1kBOI8Vv what location are you in?
Operations here - Our group just received strict instructions NOT to come into the office Tuesday, Jan 17. I guess that's our day.
Are these effecting software engineers too or just different departments other than software.
I just saw one in FX sales as of today.
Jan 17-20 for Pershing. Not sure of rest of bank.
Please let us know if you or somebody you know has been affected.
