Thread regarding Bank of New York Mellon Corp. layoffs

All this stress just isn't worth it

Looking for a new job is helping me overcome this stressful period of uncertainty. Basically, what is the worst that can happen to me? To get laid off and not be able to find a new job for a long, long time... I don't believe that this will happen to anyone with skills because there are enough solid options on the job market.

60 hours is insane. You essentially are allowing them to cut your pay rate.

No doubt losing your job is scary, but depending on years of service & grade level, you can get 3+ months of severance plus collect unemployment, as paltry as unemplyement is, it is something

I’m not downplaying the mental nor financial aspect of losing your income but if you’re that unhappy and /or working 60 hour weeks, it may become a blessing in disguise

Even if unable to find a job quickly, the worst that could happen is filing for bankruptcy. Still keep your residence and vehicle. Wipe out all debt. Rebuild over the next 7 years while putting cash into savings that you previously spent on creditors. The worst can be overcome, overwhelming, but not the end of times that big Corp has made us believe to keep us enslaved to a 60+ hour work week.
