I feel like my department at bny mellon is necessary and we don’t seem like we could afford to downsize, but how do I know if my group is being targeted by layoffs

Not if you are connected and only if you are connected. You can be a total incompetent CLOWN who knows nothing and has never had a role just like my Current Boss. I wish I could name her. Also I was told Indian Male in IT is a Majority in Tech and are target for layoffs to increase Diversity. Females, African Americans etc are needed.
Btw there was a lawsuit against BNYM and the judge ruled in Favor of BNYM stating Nepotism is not a crime (thats how he got on his seat for the judge)
You’re safe if you’re black, transgender, non-binary, with a disability. Getting rid of you would totally mess with BNY’s virtue signaling.
If you’re unlucky enough to have been born through no fault of your own white, male, straight, make sure to pack any personal items before leaving the office on Friday.
If you work at BK, you are certainly a target.
