Got call yesterday morning via teams meeting with manager of my mgr.( Grade J.) I was told that my role was eliminated... blah blah. Grade J , I've been with company for 2 years . First was shocked, but now " everything is done , done for better" .

Meanwhile, RV jetted off to Davos this week to schmooze with the global elite at WEF. Not a coincidence. That's some p--s poor form when you're in the midst of firing 1500 people.

I worked at BNY for 25 years and got a Teams invite earlier from my manager's manager who I only knew in name and had never spoken with before. He read from a script for 5 minutes and asked me to sign off with more information to follow.

You are just a employee number and not a human being.

In retrospect I wish I had worked there for 25 days and not 25 years.

As someone previously mentioned, on payroll till the 27th, Does this mean we get our normal twice a week paycheck until April 30th as part of our severance pay? I'm still waiting for my email explaining all of this and will my benefits still be taken out of my paycheck till then as well.

Forgot to mention...

Termination is technically effective after the call, free to log off, but am on the payroll until the 27th and official termination is on the 30th.

Yes! Yes! Yes!

It just happened to me!

Like other have said, random Teams call form my manager's manager whom I never speak with.

"This is a great opportunity for you and your next step in life, blah, blah blah..."

Told me I would be getting 2 weeks per year and receiving an email from HR by end of day.

Laid off this morning via teams meeting with my direct mgr. Grade L, was told my role was being eliminated and I’ll receive a packet via email with all the details of my package . Good riddance , BNYM is a horrible place to work

Answers to recently posed questions:

  1. Q: Will I still get my bonus? A: Depends on the good graces of your management. If they like you, probably yes, if they don't, your bonus was likely meted out to the rest of your team.
  2. Q: Would people still get their pensions? A: Yes, the pensions are vested and there is nothing management can do to take them away.
  3. Q: What does an Outlook VVV status mean? A: It typically means access for that employee has been terminated or in process of being terminated.

Person worked for BNY for 5 years, Weath Management Assistant (I think that's the role title?), just got laid off.

Cleveland Office, apparently at least 3 others also laid off (including two wealth managers)
