People…. Read these posts.
These are our coworkers.
How are they even being hired and into which grades? It’s not as though the U.S. is at full employment. It should be easy to find good hires.
@1llm can't even read the headline of this thread, no wonder she can't read the documentation provided by HR.
@1lar thanks. So basically health benefits are covered through your severance period, and at the end you have choice of Cobra for the max of 18 months.
Glad to hear that it's covered while on severance, that helps.
@1mww - The portion that you pay for your health benefits will be taken out of your SUB pay for as long as the SUB pay lasts. After that, you will be given the choice to continue your medical and dental coverage through COBRA, which lasts 18 months, but is much, much more expensive.
How do health benefits work if severed?
Sell dr-gs and mow lawns under the table. You will earn more than most BNY Managing Directors.
Doordash, or uber considered a job?
Correct, that's why it's called a Supplemental Unemployment Benefit (SUB). It's only paid for the duration that you earned while at the company (generally 2 weeks for every year of service). In order to collect it, you must remain unemployed. As soon as you get a job, your SUB will stop. The good news is that you can file for state unemployment compensation concurrently, so that you can get BOTH while you are unemployed. State UC typically only lasts for 26 weeks.
