I got laid off today. Will I still get a bonus for 2023 ?

That sure never happened at Mellon.
I believe you mean 2022 bonus.
When you leave by any means, even after working a full year or more, your bonus is fair game, gets tossed around and usually winds up going to the manager’s pets. Never leave for any reason while you’re waiting for a payout.
An unexpected pot of money is apparently addictive to NYC Bankers. I lost about $10K.
Don’t make the mistake of trusting the bank. Trust me…
If you had a negotiated bonus percentage or amount, I suspect you would get that. Ither than that, It sounds like it was up to managers to allocate bonus amounts. However, if I had someone in my group being RIF’d I would have allocated to the higher performers in the group as I suspect most managers would. It is pay for performance and if you are getting RIF’d someone didn’t think you performed well enough to keep.
The bonus pool is only so big. Management has to allocate the greater share to the one or two non-nitwits still working as an incentive to not leave. You’ll get a bonus, not the normal amount. The mystery is why anyone who can think is still at BNYM….
It depends, I wouldn't assume it will be consistent with what you have received historically.
WAIT!!!!!! people at BNYM get bonuses??????????
REMEMBER when the whole company got 15 percent of salary bonus ....pre 9-11
1/2 if they like you, zero if they don’t. No rhyme or reason and don’t think about fighting it, you’ll lose.
You're entitled to 2022s Bonus payable 2/28. But as to how much it's anyone's guess. The numbers were put in after the layoff list was finalized. So it depends on how much your manager hated you.
