Thread regarding Bank of New York Mellon Corp. layoffs

Always an undercurrent of "job fear(s)"

I have been here for almost 10 years and it seems that on a weekly if not even daily basis there is always an undercurrent of "you could be terminated for [insert notion here]," not to mention all the talk of layoffs and FUTURE layoffs. It appears that management enjoys this atmosphere of fear and uncertainty. I know this specific layoff is for real and all that, but they seem to really enjoy stoking the fires of fear and uncertainty, more so than any other job I have ever had (approaching 60 now).

We never asked to be acquired by mo--ns. Darn Bob Kelly wrecked both the d-mb and the smart banks.

@OP

You're much more than a little bit paranoid. The last 4 1/2 years since Schardt’s August 2018 massacre were totally clear sailing with no worries at all until now. We all knew that it was going to resume after Todd handed it over to Robin.

Even this month was extremely minor in comparison to the 2000 to 2008 era. I would call our current state as minor regular weeding to keep the garden healthy.

Usually when an employee is displaced the coworkers aren’t surprised.

BNYM has many managers who lack true people management skills.
And there is a complete disconnect at the top levels of management.

Get out, much better employers than BNY. I left last summer, very happy I did.

Indeed.

I believe that senior management loves people on this site asking questions like "is that it for 2023 layoffs...", "is it a phone call or teams message that I need to look out for...", etc.

It's really sick from both angles. If you're at the bottom and letting these questions impact your life, get out now. Maybe even downsize your lifestyle so that you don't live in fear, or under rule of these ruthless mo--ns..

This is payback from the mass resignations that occurred last year.

You’re making me nostalgic for the days when the punchline of the jokes had to do with a screwup impacting your bonus numbers (which were paid in Dec-Jan) Ah, the good old days.

OMG yes! To the point that our former manager literally invented things that could get you fired.
