Thread regarding IBM layoffs

Retiring end of March

After 22 years at IBM and another 19 years in various roles as an architect / developer / team leader as a customer and competitor, I decided to retire end of March. There were just too many things I no longer felt like tolerating anymore and I wanted to spend more time enjoying my remaining life with family and friends. Obviously after 41 years in an I/T related profession I had the opportunity to work with some very talented people who were also just good human beings. On the flip side, I never could stand working with prima donnas who were all about self promotion or back stabbing whenever they got the chance. Fortunately those types of people were the minority in my career. I may get into teaching part time at a local university post IBM retirement as I know really enjoyed teaching customers and IBMers on technologies that I was passionate about over the years like blockchain. Anyone have any experiences to share about teaching post IBM retirement?

I would suggest doing something totally unrelated to technology. You only live once and try to experience all that is possible.

It is not paid, but you will learn so much.
My daughter tutored students remotely during the pandemic, and I joined sometimes.
Speaking with some students in Africa and explaining them, what it is like to be an engineer. I learned so much from it.
