@as just let go after nearly a decade with the company. Stellar reviews, 100% customer satisfaction, perfect attendance…. None of that mattered. This is a very toxic work environment where management discourages employee engagement and refuses to address or even discuss any issues. Their turn over would have been higher if they didn’t pay so well. In all my time with the company, I did not refer anyone to Optum due to the toxicity.
Still with Optum, but have started looking. 3 external applications. 2 interviews. Was turned down for one, but unless it would have been a considerably large increase in money, I felt it was not the right fit for me and I would have turned it down. Just had third interview on Friday for the other position. Sounds like it would be a great place to work. Hoping to hear something by the end of next week. Wish me luck.
@dw Why am I here? I check on you guys and girls regularly, see how the wailing and gnashing of teeth is going. Maybe try to bring some reality into the mix. Honestly it's a loosing battle
@dv I've been here a long time and this is the lowest morale, company-wide, that I've ever seen. Raises/bonuses are low. The couple times a year RIFs have been monthly, if not weekly or daily. Humans are being automated out of this industry. We're not saving lives here, we're making money for some shareholders. Every team, every department, has a singular money-making goal because if that isn't your primary goal then you will be next on the RIF list.
@dv So if you’re so drunk, drinking the Kool-Aid, what the he-l are you doing on here?
@as it's honestly not bad here. I have been here 5 years and like it just fine. I have worked at better and worse places.
Optum and the health-care field in general is on the middle of a major transformation. That means many people have been let go. If you have the right skill set, strong work ethic, and don't mind change/uncertainty you will probably do just fine here. I have teams of awesome, talented, individuals here doing just fine.
This board is an echo chamber of despondence, anger, and hate. They are not representative of the company as a whole or what is actually happening. Optum had well over 200,000 employee, there will always be a certain number of people getting let go or being replaced as needs change. That su-ks, many congregate here and air their greviences.
@as i’ve been here a little over a year and I wake up every day for the past few months with vertigo so stressed out because I’m not sure if I’m gonna have a job or not. I’m gonna start looking outside this company and I’ll never look back.
@as consistent layoffs. They just had huge layoff they don't care if you are a new hire if you are in a dept on list your gone. Don't do it
@as having Optum on your cv is bad. I'd keep looking.
Details please? I have an interview Monday
