Thread regarding Bank of New York Mellon Corp. layoffs

LIVERPOOL (Pershing) Closure

I heard the Liverpool Pershing office is closing down (Relocation, poss Manchester?) I just wondered, if it's accurate, what people's experience was of these layoffs/relocations outside the US. Is it as heartless? Poorly communicated? Forced "false" reviews?

@hh, he was a bargain at the time as he was, ahem, retired from GS at the time in his late 40’s.

@fq same done to central NY and alot of other places as well. If you have no close location to drive too, they are now firing everyone they forced to wfh permanently. And have gone as far as falsifying performance ratings to do so and avoid severance. Anyone else they couldn’t fire but had ratings reduced had merit taken if they were wfh as well. Robin is the biggest piece of sh-t to over see this company. After being investigated at GS you would think someone with a brain wouldnt have brought him in as CEO

All true. Virtually zero communication since the announcement was made. Everything with BNY is 'if your face fits'. There were certain members of the employee consultation team in Liverpool trying to persuade colleagues that 'management should be given a chance, be open to proposals' drumroll said "colleague" has suddenly been promoted!! It stinks. People's lives are being f-cked with and on top of it, you have to put up with that sort of deception and betrayal.

Similarly with Penning NJ, the closing was announced followed by zero communication regarding if people will continue to have jobs and the office location they will need to report to in the future. I have heard rumors that they are trying to open a new office in PA. Shame on leadership to not provide some clarity to people. It is a total lack of respect for people. This should be one of the pillars of the BNY culture.

If they relocate to Manchester, only certain number of positions will stay.

It is true it’s closing. Scheduled for end of November. It’s been a horrible, stressful time since announcement in September. There has been no leadership from the exec nor local management. There are huge amounts of staff going off with stress because of this situation. It gets very tiring listening to the so called management and the People team just making light of this situation. There has been no significant presence from either in Liverpool since the announcement. So so poor by all in charge . Good luck to all going through it.
