I almost forgot Dell owns Alienware. How is that side doing?

How is this business holding up ?

They’ve always been considered an overpriced turnkey for rich kids spending their parents money.

There are cheaper, comparable pre-builts on Amazon now with LED lights and liquid cooling and all the bells and whistles.

I don’t think Alienware is going to save the company lol.

Let's put it this way... Most people who ever buy Alienwares are gamers... Most gamers know to stay away from Alienware because you can't really upgrade the important parts. RAM and SSD's, sure... but CPU's, Mobos and GPU'S? yeah, have fun with those upgrades.

Realistically, I have no idea how they are doing but as a gamer, there are FAR better prebuilt computer companies out there that are lightyears better than alienware. Alienware at one time was the "best of the best" but that was 30 years ago. Nowadays? Razor, iBuyPower, Corsair, just to name a few... are 500x better than AW could ever hope to be.

AW - desktops anyways - uses propitary CPU sockets that won't allow you to purchase CPU's from anywhere EXCECPT dell. Meaning if you buy an AW and want to upgrade your CPU, you literally can't.

I have an Alienware desktop I bought 2 years ago and it's pretty great... BUT the only reason I bought it is because of the discount we get and it was on sale. Normally I build my own comps but my old one conked out and I got tired of trying to figure out wtf happened so I bought an AW.

I had an alienware laptop and a week later, i spilt a drink and the fans su-ked the liquid up so that was the end of that LOL... So I tried to do what I could and alas, nothing worked. So i bought a Razer laptop and not only was it 100x faster, but also LIGHT AF, slim and not some big a$$ bulky thing. My AW was a 15" and on the cheaper end, my Razer is a 14" and on the cheaper end as well. I paid more for the razor technically but, it's a superior laptop in every possible way.

Desktop - AW's aren't bad computers but they are WAY overpriced and VERY difficult to upgrade yourself... RAM and SSD's are easily upgradeable but, want a newer CPU? HAHAHA good luck! Want a new motherboard? Might as well just get a new computer. Wanna upgrade your GPU? Have fun I guess? Essentially, if you want to upgrade main components on an AW you have to send it in to Dell, pay for the upgrades and obviously the labor.

@OP the fact that nobody's heard anything about it in a long time should tell you all you need to know.

It's doing about as well as the rest of the business because it shares the same inept leadership and subpar hardware as the rest of the business.
