Why do we have fully remote workers in Nashville?

Please lay off the Caribbean remote workers. They are a drain on this company…extremely overpaid and add zero value.

@OP So it took journalist Mr. Pelley to get fired for now the writers guild to complain of “cruel and needless layoffs” at the same time thousands lost their jobs in the last three years.

@zt OP was quoting The Writers Guild which was referring to the layoffs in the firings as separate incidents. There have been many layoffs previous to this most recent house cleaning which was indeed firings. I don’t think anyone’s trying to argue with that or mince words.

@107 Scott Pelley criticized, or rather publicly railed against the person who signs his paycheck. Textbook definition of “biting the hand that feeds you.” Maybe you are mistaking how I said I handle my frustration with the company vs his but I think it’s pretty clear you’re just trying to be deliberately adversarial.

@w0 sounds like we agree, i guess you just don't know what "don't bite the hand that feeds you" means. sounds like it's unintentional, let me help you: https://dictionary.cambridge.org/us/dictionary/english/bite-the-hand-that-feeds

Scott Pelley says 60minutes is a family is bs . First, the correspondents all work from home or away on assignment - then they work with same team of producers & editors , these people don't even know each other after 10,20, 30 years. Secondly , pelley is tone deaf if he doesn't think there are other units at CBS that are tighter . 60 minutes people see each other once a year at the holiday party at least CBS News employees work in the broadcast Center and mingle , rather than that Ivory tower across the street

@vt I never said leadership shouldn’t be criticized or that they didn’t deserve to be, but it is immature and naïve to expect to be able to do so in a public fashion without consequences. I think anyone in a toxic work environment has probably dreamed at one point or another of grandstanding and going out in a blaze of glory. And maybe if you have Scott Pelley money and can land another multimillion dollar gig with no effort, you can do just that.

P.S. Thanks for explaining my original comment.

@nh that's not what was said and isn't what "don't bite the hand that feeds you" means. i am all for phoning it in and collecting a check. saying "please don't criticize daddy" while doing so is the pathetic part.

@me Protecting your job in a shi**y job market is actually not pathetic at all. I don’t have to like leadership, but I am more than happy to phone it in and cash a fat paycheck until I can secure something better.

@k6 regardless of the situation or scenario, saying "you don’t bite the hand that feeds you" about a company that may lay you off without cause at any moment is actually pathetic. have some respect for yourself.

“Cruel and needless” is a little dramatic, no? Whatever you think of new leadership’s perspective, they are not wrong. That linear TV is a dying format, particularly where news is concerned. And while I have a great deal of respect for Scott Pelley and none of us will truly know what was said inside that room unless we were there, you don’t bite the hand that feeds you. I absolutely hate the direction. This company is going, but I’m smart enough to know that I have no influence over it, and in the interest of keeping my paycheck, I’m happy to just keep my head down and keep doing my job. And if anyone objects severely, they should be actively jobhunting.
