Thread regarding DXC Technology layoffs

So was the option to buy 10 days leave restored or not?

Back in November last year, in UK at least, without any warning the number of days of additional annual leave was reduced from 10 to 5. We were told at the time it was a mistake and when DXC Select reopened in the summer you could buy the extra 5, to restore normality.
Did that happen? Or did DXC management mislead again?
(I'm only curious as I got redundancy a few weeks ago)

@wn DXC will change whatever policy it likes it's own favour. Expect more of the same without much notice when they suddenly realise they can save some more money. Your wellbeing is irrelevant.

@wn The policy was due to how the calendar fell for Christmas 25. We can expect it again in future years when Christmas and New Year fall in the middle of a week. With Christmas Day 2026 being a Friday, DXC saying it is shutting down from Friday 18th for 2 full weeks would be unjustifiable. But so was changing the goal posts in October.

I notice that the enforced leave at Christmas is only 3 days this year. They quietly changed that policy

The maximum holiday balance allowed is 35 days.
3 days must be allocated to Christmas 2026, 1 day already consumed by 2nd Jan 2026.

Bought holidays cannot be carried forward. Which I find annoying - I bought the things, the company has benefited from my money - if I roll them over to future years what is the issue? So we don't buy too many - then find we've run out - and just go off sick instead. The core entitlement is fair enough to force people to use them and even take some proper breaks - and long weekend by taking a half day Friday here and there is not a proper break!
