Thread regarding Centene Corp. layoffs

Any updates

Has anyone heard any further updates?? Any idea to how many is applying for the VSP? What are they considering “critical roles?” This waiting and not knowing is about to get to me. I cannot focus on anything but this.

@b3 DITTO.

I'm not in a critical role either, yet I'm somehow always called on to save my team's a-s.

I’m not in a “critical role” but I have a solid amount of knowledge under my belt and 15 years of experience but I keep getting dragged into projects and calls that should not pertain to me “cause I’m needed”

Am I taking VSP? No
Am I leaving? Yes
Will I give a 2 week notice? No
When? Before 2027

@a1 Wonderfully said, OP everyone can definitely relate to your worries as we are all in this together for now. For me, I have also decided to apply for the VSP and hope for the best. I have given all I have to this company and things just keep getting worse. Honestly, even if I am not chosen I don’t see me staying much longer sadly.

many of us are unable to focus when our livelihoods and future plans (whatever those may be) have essentially been threatened. it's a natural response to have.

I am much calmer this week than I was last week, but I had to remind myself the outcome of this situation is out of my hands. no amount of worrying is going to change the outcome. I like to be in control and I'm having to let go of some of that control.

how I see it is we all have a 33% chance of staying:

  • apply for VSP, accepted = gone
  • don't apply for VSP, layoff = gone
  • don't apply for VSP, don't get laid off = retained

that's probably a bleak way of looking at it (and probably poor math overall, my brain is so done). after this process is done, the RIFs will continue throughout 2027 with the decrease in Medicaid membership.

I honestly do not see many VSP applications being rejected. I will not be applying for the VSP. I'm very aware half of my team could get axed. if those in the C-suite don't see the value, it is what it is. I will figure it out. we all will.

pray on it, talk to your ancestors, therapists or whomever else you advise.

@a1 love this and perfectly said! I think we all feel the same way. That and more. I have also decided to take the VSP and let the chips fall where they may.

@a1 what a beautiful thing to say to a coworker. I’m hoping to get to where you are soon. I wish you all the best

@OPFriend, I wish I had a clear answer, but I honestly have no idea. The mental gymnastics are exhausting: Do I stay and risk a layoff? Do I apply for the VSP and risk being denied, only to be let go later? Do I accept the VSP and face the current job market? Question after question, and tragically, I don't think any of us really know what comes next.Ultimately, I’ve decided to apply for the VSP. I've accepted that worrying is a natural part of the process, whether I apply or not. Once I find out the outcome, I will do my best to remain calm, rational, and pivot as smoothly as I can. I’ll likely take a small break, enjoy a long nap, and reset. It won't be easy, and it will be quite emotional, as I've been here for nearly a decade and never imagined this happening. But it is happening, and I can only control what I can control.I really hope that peace consumes you and that you find clarity in the direction that best suits your future.
