As a PL I have to say from Director to front line we are all in the same boat. If you accept the VSP you may or may not get it. If you dont you will either be retained as a business need or next round of non Vsp layoffs with severance benefits but not on the same level as VSP offer. Business need based on contractual expectations so take that into account in your own analysis. Plan accordingly and know that Corp will do what is right for the bottom line and not you but that is business. Give yourself some grace as well as your PL as we all navigate our individual decision (unless they have been a true micromanager). Also be kind, there are some arguments on this forum and there is no reason for that. Remember as Yoda says "fear is the pathway to the darkness"

Why is everyone mad at this post? Where is the lie? All of this sounds very accurate.
the fear mongering of the VSP application being denied for the sole purpose of being included in the next round of involuntary layoffs needs to stop. if the position is not needed and/or the work can be redistributed, you will be free to walk.
Not getting accepted for the VSP has definitely been a concern of mine and being laid off later. Anyone accepting should not be viewed as wanting to leave, I think most of us if had a choice would stay . If I request it's because this is a opportunity...
Wow! Not sure what all the hate is about. Poster did not deserve that
