I apologize if this is a stupid question. I'm new and trying to figure out how layoffs work here. I've read that emails are supposed to start going out this morning, and I'd like to know is the email an invite for a meeting with your boss or is the email itself a notification that you're being laid off with no meeting?

@gw I was laid off on a Friday, that was in Jan. They also do Fridays now.
I got conference call with bigwig & group. All muted, told position was eliminated, told end date, followed my email with "out" instructions for everything. No personal contact from mgr or anyone! Good riddance.
@gw Usually if you are out of office they will call your cell. Then they go to emergecy contacts if needed. The goal is to speak to the person same day. It doesn't matter if you are on PTO, medical leave, or funeral leave.
I was laid off in January and it was just a phone call from my boss. They always happen on Thursdays. If you are out of office it will happen the morning you return.
@OP
Judging from the past, IT cancels most access and you get an invite from your boss
@OP it’s typically a calendar invite for a 15 minute meeting with your supervisor.
You'll get a meeting notice, usually with your supervisor. Its a pretty simple conversation. Here's what's happening. Here's what's next. Good luck. Cheers.
