Many are impacted cross SLK

@15p will be interesting to watch AI do a Backout after a live implementation falls over and customer wants 100% proof everything is backed out and can proceed with old version in PROD. Plus within allotted downtime window!!
@15m What is new?
@15m Current industry standard. Ba--s deep into AI, which even after price increase is subsidized and will be like 9-10 times more expensive sooner rather than later. But then you are already fu---d and have to pay cause you have fired experienced people. They are mentioning those smart factories where you will work with AI agents instead of people, shipping cr-ppy code as fast as you can. Issue is, we are not Facebook. If we mess up it's not like some d-mb page won't render - it's shitload of money lost every time.
Sabre focussing on short term not long term.
seems they are moving everything overseas to save in labor costs.
The goal is to eliminate SLK entirely
@vt I am impacted. I know many in SLK, across all business units. More comes in July. Apparently, the last round didn't meet the budget cut goal.
If possible please provide details about how many and where. I know of one person from SLK and another from KRK but have no idea about how many employees were affected in total.
@a9 which country?
I learnt one of the finest i have ever worked with has been let go. This is so totally crazy. This people does not have a clue. Bunch of liars.
Back to the meritum. Any hints on scale of this layoffs round? Is it the missing 10% mentioned earlier this year, or something totally new?
@g6 Well said! (Which is why the Indians won't understand it)
Let the vindaloo and gulab jamun flow in BLR $$
The company started getting worse as soon as it was spun off from AA.
It is amazing that Sabre stayed in business this long!
@ew funny thing about the gas price analogy - gas prices are cheaper in US than India! Similarly if one includes training, retraining costs, recruitment since tenures are typically shorter, cost of errors, delays, not understanding customer needs, impact on customer satisfaction, etc, it ends up being more expensive.
@ew The problem is that Americans built the company and the sub continents have destroyed it.
What is the problem? Would you accept higher gas prices just becaouse only high cost employees have been invved into its delivery?
@cq You can't spell nvidia without India...
@ct my whole org us location is gone, you know where they move it to
My cherry is also picked. Remote EU.
14 years of blood, sweat, toil, and tears and a pretty derisory offer at the end of it.
And any hints about the scope? It's cherry picking or full blown cherry harvest? :D
@cf they claim “globally” but you know which location won’t be impacted
@c9
XD - nvidia
Btw. US only for now? Or will it be global?
Finger crossed for useless Directors, puppets of their VPs. Finally the VPs can show everybody their coding skills. Not sure if nvidia server can handle it…
Yup. I was one of them. Semi expected, but still su-ks. At this point, who is left to do the work?? Talk about a sinking ship.
Although nothing should shock me with how they handle things, totally shocked by who they let go today and the timing of it.
More to come on second week of July, expect significant round for Principal+.
