Thread regarding Bank of America layoffs

Reports

I pull multiple reports a week and then take the data and put it in other reports and then send it to 8 people I've never heard of in my area and do it again the next day and the next day and everyday after until I die

Whats the fu--ing point of this. No one actually looks at the data.

Why don't you create a prompt for Copilot and give it the example result you want and stop doing manual work, unless someone might figure out that you actually do nothing and get rid of you.

Sounds like you work in a bank. I had a similar situation. There were reports sent very high up to clear up an OCC issue, and my task was to independently replicate the reports, as QA. I even had someone gather me a separate copy of the input data. I didn't mind, because I was left alone except for when someone in my group had to make a critical report for bigwigs.

That sounds frustrating. Why don’t you reach out to the 8 people , introduce yourself, and ask them if the reports are helpful, ask them what they do with the information, and help you to understand how it fits in with their goals/mission. Perhaps they will tell you they also don’t understand why they are producing what they are producing, but perhaps they will have something useful to share. Either way, they will not be strangers anymore and you may learn something.
We are at the point where the work you describe will soon be generated and distributed by a program, so you will be well served to learn about things beyond the reports themselves.
