Thread regarding U.S. Bank layoffs

Anyone still happy here?

I genuinely hate everything about this place. The work, the boss, the people, the politics, it's all awful. This isn't the same company I joined and I'm counting the days until I can get out.

I am working on boundaries. Since I’m RTO, no calls unless I sm plugged in getting IP credit. This is non negotiable. No more taking calls while driving in. No more doing just one more thing. When my day is up - it is up. I also have started scheduling time to do my work and not back to back calls. That means if I have to send notes - I allow time to scrub them and then send them out. I schedule time complete the quarterly training. You get the draft of where I am going with this. If a key person can’t attend a call I’ve had scheduled gif weeks, I do not do summer saults and reschedule to accommodate. I just reschedule that one call. Life is do much easier with these kind of boundaries so is work.

I like my job and I like my team. I have bad days dealing with the bull. I make an effort not to bring the “job” home and most days I am able to forget it. I take the bus so it helps to unwind after work on the bus instead of dealing with traffic. My last job was horrible and that is when I decided not to be angry and frustrated about a job after I walked out Better for me and better for my family.

@bn agreed

One thing I started is declining last minute meetings to discuss a project. Its a project and you should be able avoid same day meetings.

@az One hundred percent with you. While the job itself isn't what it used to be there are aspects that have gotten worse so doing our best to improve on it helps. Teams is a great example. Setting boundaries is not only important but necessary. I only respond once every couple hours and certainly not when I am on a call and my status clearly shows it. Boss or not.

Happy not getting a raise while GK gets millions to kick us further down? No, not happy at all and that’s why I’m applying. She destroyed morale and will destroy this bank completely.

I discovered the largest source of unhappiness is Microsoft Teams.

I have mediocre team members bothering me asking for help or have an inquiry, this is where my manager interrupt in the chat and ask if I have a minute, unproductive meeting popping up during productive hours and moments, people posting woke stuff on the general board I'm forced to see when opening up Teams. Or support or security randomly reaching out to me telling me I have to address a situation with urgency.

Once I learned to tamper down Teams, things got a little better.

Leave. It’s really simple. Don’t let a job dictate your happiness whether it’s here or somewhere else.

I find it best in these circumstances to just focus on getting out. Get that resume updated. Start applying to jobs. Start talking to recruiters. Go on interviews.

You can't control the work and the work environment, but you can control your exit strategy.
