Thread regarding Centene Corp. layoffs

And now we wait???

Initially, I was saying eff this... after 15 years - and they pull this stunt, let me take the money and run - but then I added up the taxes and considering that I have yet to get a single interview for ANYTHING... I decided to change my answer to decline the VSP... so now what? Hope I bought myself some time and hope I wont get sacked...at least not till I find something suitable. What a nightmare. Truly.

@a7 "surely I would survive another layoff. I
am no longer confident that we are getting all of the information."
EXACTLY! me too!

I was yes/no/and then Yes at 5pm Wed night. A bit of "buyers' remorse" this weekend, but I need to focus on the "what's next"

early Wed morning I looked at the job openings in Workday(?).
116 openings. a few nursing jobs, claims team lead type stuff, but mostly mid/high level exec-type jobs. boooo. Surely, that's can't be a good signal.
oh, and by the way, we/they are hiring 50 more people for claims. I think we just 2 or 3 claims classes finish training.

And they pulled almost all(!) the jobs down back in May. Now there's just 116.
plus they're changing the decision dates.
and the "estimated" severance pkg.
Add in to that that the stock is on fire for 2026...how/why???
just all around weird vibes from PL up to SL.

I love Centene & have always bragged about how wonderful it is to be part of the CenTeam. Clearly, I'm rethinking that whole view. Kinda excited for the next chapter!

tldr: I'm done

@an I am right there with you. I usually have no trouble getting an interview and then the job. Zero luck. Is everyone looking for a job ? This is scary stuff.

I thought we do nothing if declining. I didn't accept the VSP. I've sent out about 40 applications since this started with 0 responses. I usually get a call for almost every job I apply for. It's been 3 years since I was last interviewing. This job market is scary. I may just keep sending out applications to be safe, because who knows what this company is doing long term. They will have to lay me off I will not volunteer to leave.

I feel you! I have been there for almost nine years. I originally declined because, surely I would survive another layoff. I
am no longer confident that we are getting all of the information. Why is the timetable changing? They only gave us two weeks to decide but they are giving themselves 25 calender days....smh

@OP that’s how I feel. If I got an interview I would accept if not nope. I never said anything on it decline or otherwise. Were we supposed to decline it ? Or just with no answer is acceptable ?
